My, how beautiful this is
Recently, I discovered in the small but fine Düsseldorf perfumery Beauty Affair, just a stone's throw from the famous Königsallee, a previously unknown perfume brand from Dubai with highly attractive bottles, which is exclusively sold there.
But not only the bottles are a feast for the eyes, but also the elegant luxurious cases in which the fragrances are packaged. However, the olfactory content is what really matters - and that can be sniffed.
All EdPs are alcohol-free and are supposedly produced according to strict natural and ethical guidelines. That's already a commendable approach, but now one wants to know what the compositions can do.
As the first from the series, I tackled the Compassionate Sandal, which translates to "The Merciful Sandal."
In this case, sandalwood is not even in the foreground. What one initially perceives is a good dose of jasmine, very natural and not overly feminine. In between, there are lightly refreshing exotic fruity notes of passion fruit with a minimal hint of saffron. However, what ultimately prevails is the jasmine.
Gradually, the contents cautiously blend with a hint of patchouli and the expected sandalwood, including other light woody notes.
In the drydown, one thinks they can smell a few spritzes of passion fruit again, possibly with a touch of vetiver.
I am positively surprised, although the sandalwood somewhat fades and the EdP does not come across as punchy as one might expect. The characteristics here are noble, discreet, and refined in interplay.
Gradually, I will delve more intensively into the other creations, which seem absolutely promising and intriguing. The only thing that might be somewhat irritating on the side is the My logo, which slightly reminds me of the M from Magnum ice cream, which definitely doesn't have to be a downside.
Otherwise, everyone is welcome to go on a discovery tour themselves. And I am sure that in this small perfumery - where every perfume lover who has been there can attest to the excellent service - they are happy to help. "Mei or My, how beautiful this is," a Bavarian would say.
