Well, it does take a bit longer until we get there.
Our journey begins fully equipped with all the components of the fragrance pyramid - wood, cocoa, patchouli, iris, and, subtly, leather and rose. Gradually, we shed parts like rocket stages. Away with the leather, and the wood is just ballast now.
And then finally we reach the red planet, and it is entirely... cocoa soap.
But please don't confuse it with chocolate - there is nothing sweet here, and it is not a dessert scent at all. Like cocoa nibs, the fragrance becomes roasted, with a very slight bitterness that is easily caught by the soapy note. At the same time, the cocoa ensures that the soapy note loses the association with squeaky clean and white tiles. With a bit of imagination, I can actually see the reddish-brown, sandy, windy expanse of Mars before me.
" Mars" is definitely another unisex fragrance. It doesn't last quite as long as the other niche-end scents (meaning, rather six hours than eleven). Even though it’s not entirely my thing, I find it considerably better and more pleasant than many of their other fragrances.
