After the Amaretto comes the disillusionment...
The fragrance Gola by no.nu begins with a very appealing top note that I liked immediately. It has exactly the kind of cherry that fits the classic profile for those who enjoy Amaretto. It is an introduction that initially convinces with sweet Amarena cherry and almond syrup, starting off wonderfully gourmand.
However, the fragrance soon develops, especially on my skin, a very unpleasant note that reminds me of certain cleaning products. This note literally overlays the top note and transforms the scent in a completely different direction. Instead of a sweet, gourmand Amarena cherry with Amaretto liqueur, I get this biting sweet note that I can hardly describe, and I can't assign it to any of the listed fragrance notes. Actually, only peach could be responsible for this.
From here on, the fragrance progresses quite linearly, and unfortunately, there is no positive development for me anymore.
On the test strip, almond and cherry remain present a bit longer, and the unpleasant note is not quite as dominant; otherwise, Gola would not have made it onto my watchlist at all.
I'm glad I could test it again thanks to a sample.
Ultimately, the fragrance did not deliver what the top note promised for me.
