Forget Me Not - Licorice Greens
Sharply green at the jump. I'm surprised that licorice or fennel isn't called out in the notes, but there is definitely something anisic in the green notes. It's also more like the bitter pith of the citrus rind than a citrus fruit. It's predominantly a spicy-green fragrance to me. In time, those do burn off and you're left the suggestion of a soft gardenia or some white floral, but I wouldn't ever consider this a gardenia-forward scent.
The way I've reviewed it here would make it seem like I hate this scent—let me clear, I really don't! It's nice and quite elegant. But it's not what the Parfumo notes (gardenia first?) or accords (creamy-sweet?!) would suggest, so I don't want people to be misled. I'm glad the brand's website corroborates what I'm smelling:
“Mystic and captivating aroma of citrus blended with notes of spicy pepper, amber, and green. A glass of sparkling champagne with a sprinkle of freshly nipped basil leaves. ”
I'm quite fond of basil, and I don't know if it really hits the mark, but this description is more accurate. If herbaceous, green scents are up your alley, then definitely give it a go.
