The powders of the past

At that time, there was no thought of me at all. And my grandparents hadn't even been born yet or were still in diapers as babies or toddlers... I mean the time of the "Belle Epoque" around the turn of the century before last! But I still place this fragrance back in this sometimes even decadent time! The ladies still wore long dresses and skirts. The elaborate pinned-up hairstyles. Even corsets -- the tighter the better. The "wasp waist" in perfect form. Probably very uncomfortable and sometimes even harmful - but "in the middle without" - and you weren't a fine lady! And the gentlemen with their stiff standing collars... called "father killers" - probably didn't have it any better. I'm sure they sometimes caught their breath, and not just when they got upset. But - as is still the case today in a different form: "If you want to be hip, you have to suffer"!!!
And the scent was probably also a special one. People loved powdery, floral opulence and it couldn't be sweet and opulent enough to score olfactory points! The latest trend from Paris, Milan or London was a must, especially in "fine society".
This balsamic powdered "over-rose" of this "Rouge Privé" ... "Private red" could well have found many fans at the time. This "melting", which could also be described as "Schmäh" in "Viennese". The enigmatic, almost "erotic" after-smells could have elicited a small, pointed "Oh- la la" from many a mouth. The sweet woody notes are so subtly powdery that many would probably have looked around for the wearer on the street.
Yes, these "powders of the past" are not so "without" ;-))
