The blackcurrant scent of blackcurrant fragrances
I already knew this scent before my time at Parfumo. It was part of the best Advent calendar I ever had - 24 samples carefully and lovingly selected, packed together with chocolates in small colorful fabric bags. The chocolates were quickly eaten, but the fragrance samples accompanied me for almost a year.
I believe that’s how I ended up at Parfumo.

"Cassis" was one of my favorites from the calendar. It was clear that I always perked up whenever I read somewhere: The scent smells like blackcurrant. "Enchanted Forest" found its way into my collection this way, but not primarily because of the blackcurrant that is also in it.

But it couldn’t be that the first blackcurrant scent is also the best. There must be more to come, right? - So far, no. With my headline, I respond to KingLui's comment: This is also for me the ultimate Cassis scent of all those tested so far.

This is because countless fragrances list blackcurrant as a note - but what you smell is something indefinably berry-fruity that has nothing to do with the unmistakable scent of real blackcurrants.

In other fragrances I have tested, there is indeed Cassis, but either not dominant enough or combined with other notes that don’t suit me as well. Or a type of blackcurrants that lack freshness and juiciness, having only a dried concentrate.

What Ergoproxy wrote in his statement is true: In "Cassis," all aspects of the blackcurrant bush are present:

- The juicy tartness of fresh blackcurrants with a delicate hint of a slightly bitter tannin note. And KingLui is right: a bit of minty sharpness is also characteristic of the scent of blackcurrants.

- The green of the leaves on the bush, which, when crushed between the fingers, have nothing sweet about them.

- The wood that, when chopped, carries the scent of the fruit within it, but is spicier, stricter, and slightly resinous.

Fortunately, I don’t smell musk.

For me, one of my favorite scents. And Mr. Pritzkoleit wants to discontinue it. His website states that it will still be available for Christmas, but not after that. I hope he writes that every year for marketing purposes and doesn’t mean it seriously. Because from my perspective, he would be eliminating the best of his fragrances.

So: Test it out before it’s too late! Or tell me of a better one!

One question I still have...
Christmas Giveaway Comment No. 4
I am sure I am not the only one: Many of us perfume lovers are searching for the ultimate scent in a specific note or direction - the iris scent of iris fragrances, the vanilla scent of vanilla fragrances, or the coffee scent of coffee fragrances, etc. In any case, I have such perfumes in my collection that have come to me at the happy end of a long and meticulous search.

Thus, Cassis by Sven Pritzkoleit is for me the blackcurrant scent of blackcurrant fragrances, even though I have two more in my collection that I cannot do without.
The Pritzkoleit interpretation of a cassis scent stands out from the others because it comes closest to the real blackcurrant from Grandpa's garden with its pronounced acidity. Cassis does not just smell sweet and berry-like; it is also minty, slightly earthy, and quite sour. As if you were pulling blackcurrants off a bunch with your lips and then chewing them.
This acidity is fun for me, and it creates a rough, dry-powdery feeling in the nose that scratches beautifully.

There is hardly any real progression, except that the scratchiness diminishes. I can only smell the musk in the base. Sillage and longevity are good, but could certainly be better.

Once a certain scent of a certain fragrance has been found, the search continues merrily. Right?
Is there a final destination?

(I still haven't found the lipstick scent of lipstick fragrances. That is the search that has lasted the longest and has already demanded countless samples.
Giving up is out of the question!)

One question I still have: WHY THE HELL does the bottle have only the cheapest plastic clip instead of a cap, the likes of which the world has ever seen? For a price of €128 per 30ml?

Frost crackles in purple fur. Ink drips like blood. Dark green shatters every grace. The Black Johanna reveals her power.

For lovers of cassis (ME!), a wonderfully purist scent that is softened by a woody, smooth (musk?) base! Amazing!

Dark currant lemonade, almost musty dry in its sweetness. It's got something.

A complete currant bush in a bottle. All aspects of the plant can be detected here. Fruity, green, woody. Musk.

Herb-sweet-minty, perfectly captures all aspects of black currant. Tickles pleasantly in the nose. Outstanding.

Homemade berry syrup, minty foliage, a splash of soda. As bitter as it is sweet. The fluffy-woody sweat note is intense. Cassis it is.

Berry-like, but with a slight sweat note. Somehow it has something. I was constantly sniffing my arm. Worth a try! Fruity, different.

In the midday sun, he picked blackcurrants by the bucketful. His white shirt, stained with sweat and berries, had a rather strong smell.

Style break
It swings between sparkling champagne with cassis in a small café on the Côte d'Azur and gas station blackcurrant soda. Awesome!

Unfortunately, a lustful tomcat occasionally appears briefly among the stunningly fragrant black currant bushes.
