Mystical
Top:
Right after spraying, a magnificent bergamot hits you, bitter and dull, smelling like freshly plowed earth. In the background, you can sense a bit of lemon and mandarin, but it remains bergamot-like and dark green herbal.
Possibly influenced by cedar and juniper.

Heart:
Then, the base comes through for me immediately, and it becomes antique, mystical, woody, warm, subtly oily, leathery, deep and dark, full of amber, wood, and papyrus, with a hint of tobacco that reminds me of a very old library, museum, or something similar.

Base:
It remains quite religious for about 3 hours until the base notes slowly creep in, led by the maple syrup that brings a certain light sweetness. Jasmine and geranium give the fragrance a slightly subtle creamy floral note. The iris brightens everything up a bit, making it cozy and soft.

S/D:
The longevity is in the medium range; after about 5 hours, it calms down, leaving a skin-close sillage that can last up to 10 hours.

Conclusion:
A dark green men's fragrance that does not polarize; it is more perceptible for oneself than for others, subtle and profound, certainly a handcrafted unique piece. It makes you think in a positive way and calls to mind after 2 days of not using it, yes, it calls until you use it again.

Mispurchase with Consequences...
Yes, this fragrance was a mispurchase. I wanted the "L" in the non-Oriental variant. The scent arrived, and I immediately missed the grapefruit in the opening.
But what the hell happened then??
After the first 10 seconds smelled like blindfolding alcohol, an incredibly delicious and warm scent spread out. And that’s when I knew that even fools can get lucky. This mispurchase turned out to be an oriental, woody butterfly that does nothing but look perfect.

About the scent:
The opening reminds me of a clinical disinfection - but only for the first 10-20 seconds. Once the fragrance has settled into the skin, a warmth suddenly emerges that I have rarely perceived so strongly. A perfectly balanced wood scent with subtle sweetness and light notes of incense spreads out. The floral notes are not really perceivable individually.
I personally detect the tobacco subtly. It brings a little sharpness into play. This makes it interesting again.
The scent feels relatively heavy in the nose during the first 1-2 hours. After that, it smells almost velvety soft and simply feels good.

Longevity:
The longevity is good with THREE sprays on the neck. For the price, I think it should last better. However, it could also be that I develop a fragrance blindness after about 7 hours and simply no longer smell it as intensely. (This is very likely)
I’ve had days where I applied the scent early, 3x on the neck, 2x on the arm, and I still smelled it the next day and after 2 showers. The skin-close longevity can easily scratch the 20-24 hour mark.
This probably only worked because I didn't sweat excessively during that time.

Sillage:
In short, it could be better. The opening is relatively large. It flattens out more and more every half hour. I noticed that after about 4 hours, only people directly around you perceive the scent. Maximum distance is half a meter away. Even my Prada Carbon performs better over a longer duration.

Development:
The development is very nice but also special.
It starts with a strong alcohol note and then relatively quickly transitions into a slightly sweeter area. Wood, tobacco, and musk notes also come through well at the beginning. These become more intense, softer, and warmer with increasing wear time.
In the end, sweet-floral notes remain, enveloped in a wood-amber-musk character.

Conclusion:
This was probably the most expensive and best mispurchase ever. I’m glad and will continue to wear it. The L Oriental is, in my eyes, a fragrance for colder days in autumn and winter because it comes across as so "heavy."
Funny enough, I would buy it again. However, I wouldn't recommend it blindly to anyone because it’s just ridiculously expensive. But if someone likes the ingredients and can relate to my judgment, then I can warmly recommend it.
This was my first CC and it won’t be the last.

Very nice - but not like before
I got this fragrance in the summer, as it was my wedding scent in 2015. Unfortunately, I didn't know that they have reformulated it by now. It is really beautiful, oriental, woody, very well balanced. But it unfortunately doesn't remind me of the most beautiful day. Nevertheless, it's a great scent for special occasions. Just the bottle along with the box is quite impressive.

Mega scent, woody with a hint of oriental, not too strong but still has good longevity. Very cool.

Herbaceous amber and a hint of tobacco come without sweetness, introduced by a spice-filled opening.
Elegant. High-quality.

An Oriental that is almost unbeatable in its insignificance, which transformed from a perfume jewel into an interchangeable marketing object.

Dry wood, pepper (!) and with imagination, geranium. The rest blends into a solid base.
Almost leathery.
I’ll stick with Oud Wood.

Very balanced spicy scent that leans neither sweet nor bitter. Underlined with a hint of citrus notes.

Modified and perceived as worse! It has nothing in common with the old "L for Men"! Once again, character has been lost!

The name says it all. Very dark, smoky wood, fermented with a hint of flowers from the Orient.
