Needs more...
It's a nice smokey jasmine tea. Points for the balance; I'm not a fan of "smoke" and I think it tends to overwhelm most mixes but it's well measured here. However, after the open (when you stop applauding the smoke-balance) it's kind of boring? I feel like it needed either a more skanky jasmine or a heftier note in the base. Maybe some hinoki or vetiver?

Also, for a tea-jasmine the longevity is quite impressive; but (and I think this is the first time I've ever felt this way) the longevity actually works against it?? During the first 30 minutes I was adding this to cart as an exciting late summer-early fall scent, but this has lasted all day and honestly now I'm bored and kind of fatigued with it. Once the smoke fades out it becomes a ubiquitous woody green tea.

MSRP is hilarious. IMO also not worth the common discount price; there are countless more interesting jasmines....even a ton of more interesting smoked-jasmine-teas. You could buy 4-5 of them at the MSRP.

In the Sniffing Euphoria of Special Expectations...
It is always a good sign when you feel an inner WOW right from the first spray. And not in the so-called Beast Mode form, which is currently considered a rather trendy benchmark. That is by no means the case here - of course, the composition thankfully radiates its scent. That is quite clear - but it is not a perfume that wants to compete in any way with room-filling, harsh animalistic oud stories.

Instead, we are dealing with a consistent elegance here - very high-quality - no question - I believe everyone can grasp that playfully. You can simply tell that the offered quality does not need to shout. Rather, it presents the wearer in a very stylish manner.

Noteworthy, I found the transformation - from the citrusy fruity initial phase through the somewhat sweet floral development with a very slight tea-like dryness to a very surprising warmth.

In the end, you almost incredulously sniff your skin and wonder if you perhaps applied another scent in the meantime - the warmth / the development is so beautifully soft that you simply cannot anticipate it beforehand.

_________________________________________________
I find the scent simply fantastic & I must note that I felt the same way about Crab Apple Blossom - this incredibly elegant way of combining citrusy fruitiness with a gentle floral sweetness… truly unique.

I almost feel like I have to assume that the same noses were at work here. I haven't experienced anything like this before, and I believe that some who can relate to this type of scent DNA will be absolutely surprised.

For me, Matsukita hits exactly the right point where it is neither too little nor too much - so here is my sincere praise to the creators and the brand - a fantastic release.

At this point, I would also like to share a small, almost blasphemous anecdote :) Once you have built up a certain collection, you almost inevitably fall into the temptation to layer. Usually, you combine very different scents to find out what newness they might create together. On the first day of Christmas, I then dared an experiment. Crab Apple Blossom and Matsukita are not completely contrary scents - but I just wanted to see what happens when you combine them, and the result was simply heavenly.

The two scents seemed to enhance each other, and the next day, I was raving about how good my pillow smelled ;) So I can warmly recommend this combination as well.

_________________________________________________
Personally, I am someone who very rarely feels limitations regarding perfume and I also wear perfumes that still use "for her" in their naming. I am convinced that one should generally free oneself from any guidelines in this regard. Nevertheless, I appreciate that most people might perceive Matsukita as leaning towards the feminine.

It could also be added that the Crown Collection caters more to an audience that craves something elegant that, as mentioned, does not shout - "here I come" but rather - "here is something very special for you to discover."

If you also consider that we are dealing with something exclusive and high-quality that belongs to a corresponding price category - one might also see that it could be rather unsuitable for the very young among us. However, purely from the scent perspective, I see absolutely no reasons to set any boundaries.

"If you wanna hang out, You′ve gotta take her out"
If you want to hang out with Matsukita (or more), you have to take her out. She is not satisfied with any boring movie nights on the couch or lukewarm food from the local delivery service. Matsukita likes to dress elegantly, visit high-end restaurants, wander around museums, or travel the world to learn about other cultures.

The first time you met her was in a small fishing village on the Italian Riviera. There, she sat in a chic café under blooming bergamot trees, sipping a cold mate tea. Your eyes met briefly, and your interest was piqued.
You gathered all your courage and approached her. At first, she seemed disinterested, but soon a beautiful, profound conversation developed. From this conversation, you planned a joint outing for the next day. You headed to the nearby, beautiful Provence. There, you took a long walk through jasmine fields and picturesque coastal towns. Your journey led you in the evening to a nearby little forest, past tall firs and freshly cut trees. It was there that you really got to know and love her (or perhaps just the idea of her?).

Scent impression:
After a long dry spell with Clive Christian (which can be well understood based on some past and upcoming statements), this beautiful fragrance came under my nose. It opens with a naturally citrusy bergamot and refreshing mate tea. Then a fresh jasmine note unfolds, completely without indole, and a light woodiness. The drydown is characterized by a woody, fir-like freshness, freshly cut woods, and creamy musk clouds. In my view, Clive Christian has delivered a wonderful woody-floral, slightly dry modern chypre here, which never indulges in the vintage opulence of other representatives of this category.
This fragrance is listed as unisex by the manufacturer, and of course anyone can wear it, regardless of gender. For me, however, it clearly leans towards a feminine direction, without being a typical women's fragrance.

Finally, I would like to thank NeverPerfect for the testing opportunity and thank everyone who has read my text :)

Persistence in Every Drop
The moment I first applied Matsukita is still vividly etched in my memory. It was a cool autumn evening, and I was looking for a fragrance that not only highlights my personality but also tells a story-something that takes me on a journey.
The scent:
As soon as I sprayed the first mist on my skin, a world full of exotic flowers and gentle warmth opened up. The Matsukita flower, which is at the heart of this perfume, slowly unfolded like a mysterious garden, hidden yet so close. Its floral sweetness was not overpowering, but delicate and almost mystical, as if it whispered a secret promise to me.

As the fragrance developed, the woody and spicy notes emerged-a pleasant earthiness that added structure and depth to the scent, in my opinion. I felt as if I were strolling through an exotic woodland, the air filled with the aroma of warm amber and musk, wrapping my senses like a soft cloak. Wherever I wore Matsukita, it impressed with solid longevity, typically lasting about 6 to 8 hours depending on skin type and environment. The sillage is moderate: the scent is indeed very present like every Clive, but it is never intrusive. It always remains elegantly close to the wearer, making it ideal for special situations and occasions.

This fragrance holds a very personal significance for me: it symbolizes the balance between strength and gentleness, between the desire for adventure and the need for security. When I wear Matsukita, I feel like I am telling a story of elegance and individuality with every breath, a story that only I can live.
My conclusion:
Matsukita now accompanies me to special moments, to evenings when I want to celebrate myself, and to encounters where I want to present myself with style and presence. For me, this fragrance is more than just a perfume-it is a statement, a reminder of how beautiful it is to wear one's uniqueness with pride.

So beautiful
I must honestly admit that during the
first test I was quite surprised
by such an unusual scent from Clive.

Those who know the house are aware that a certain basic DNA is always somewhat
recognizable; here it is the Woody Oriental (L) that sets the foundation.

KN:
It starts for me with a decent
portion of incense followed by subtle bergamot on cedar wood bitter
green black tea.

HN:
In the heart, it becomes floral and slightly creamy.
I can sense jasmine and roses here.
Only now do pepper and nutmeg
make their way through.

BN:
A lot of wood comes to the forefront
paired with warming amber
and slightly animalistic musk,
while the flowers never
take a back seat.
A smoky floral experience that makes one
thoughtful; it doesn't run linearly
but, in a way, follows its pyramid.

The longevity is within a reasonable range
of 5-7 hours, depending on dosage, even longer.
Here, more thought was given to the wearer.

The sillage is elegant and subtle; you can feel
it, yet you don't feel it, so to speak.

The feminine side is clearly recognizable here,
a clash of opposites,
but through the smoke, it remains more masculine
in its presentation.

A very successful release, I would
say, a little treasure ;)

This is what Interlude with Jamine and Bergamot would smell like. Addictive smell indeed, I like it in dry down. A very beautiful scent!

Initially uplifting and citric-spicy, a gently smoky, spicy floral-woody Fall fragrance, on a warm and musky, green-woody base. Masculine.

Spicy mate with a smoky-woody base is what I mostly get. It has good longevity with moderate sillage. It's nice, just not my cup of tea :)

Would never guess the notes by smelling it. Smoky maté on charred woods w/ hints of jasmine, but there are pervasive hints of barbeque also.

Powdery cool bergamot.
Interesting heart, herbaceous green floral.
Base unfortunately a bit woody and dull.
More cuff than crown.*

Please legit check this Clive Christian Matsukita
I traded for Clive Christian Matsukita and it is my first CC. Not familiar with the bottle. I am skeptical because the cap comes off really easily… not sure if that’s common or not. Please let me know :)
