Needs more...
It's a nice smokey jasmine tea. Points for the balance; I'm not a fan of "smoke" and I think it tends to overwhelm most mixes but it's well measured here. However, after the open (when you stop applauding the smoke-balance) it's kind of boring? I feel like it needed either a more skanky jasmine or a heftier note in the base. Maybe some hinoki or vetiver?

Also, for a tea-jasmine the longevity is quite impressive; but (and I think this is the first time I've ever felt this way) the longevity actually works against it?? During the first 30 minutes I was adding this to cart as an exciting late summer-early fall scent, but this has lasted all day and honestly now I'm bored and kind of fatigued with it. Once the smoke fades out it becomes a ubiquitous woody green tea.

MSRP is hilarious. IMO also not worth the common discount price; there are countless more interesting jasmines....even a ton of more interesting smoked-jasmine-teas. You could buy 4-5 of them at the MSRP.

"If you wanna hang out, you′ve gotta take her out"
If you want to hang out with Matsukita (or more), you have to take her out. She's not satisfied with boring movie nights on the couch or lukewarm food from the local delivery service. Matsukita likes to dress up, visit high-class restaurants, hang out in museums or travel the world to get to know other cultures.

The first time you met her was in a small fishing village on the Italian Riviera. There she was sitting in a chic café under blooming bergamots, drinking a cold mate tea. There, your eyes met briefly and your interest was piqued.
You plucked up all your courage and approached her. At first she seemed uninterested, but a nice, deep conversation soon ensued. From this conversation, you planned an excursion together for the next day. You went to the nearby, beautiful Provence. There you took a long walk through fields of jasmine and picturesque coastal villages. In the evening, your journey took you to a nearby forest, past large fir trees and freshly felled trees. It was there that you really got to know and love her (or maybe just the idea of her?).

Fragrance impression:
After a long dry spell with Clive Christian (which is easy to understand based on some past and future statements), I came across this beautiful fragrance. It opens with a natural, citrusy bergamot and cooling mate tea. This is followed by a fresh jasmine note, completely free of indolence, and a light woody note. The drydown is characterized by a woody, fir-like freshness, freshly cut woods and creamy clouds of musk. In my opinion, Clive Christian has delivered a wonderful woody-floral, slightly dry modern chypre here, but one that never succumbs to the vintage opulence of other representatives of this category.
This fragrance is listed as unisex by the manufacturer and of course anyone can wear it, regardless of gender. For me, however, it still has a clear feminine tendency without being a typical women's fragrance.

Finally, I would like to thank NeverPerfect for the testing opportunity and thank everyone who has read my text :)

Beautiful spring in Kyoto

My first impression of Clive's fragrance Matsukita really surprised me. It's an unusual fragrance based on the familiar basic DNA of the house, especially with its woody-oriental base.

At the first spray, an intense note of incense unfolds, followed by a hint of bergamot and bitter-green black tea resting on cedar wood.

At the heart of the fragrance, it becomes floral and slightly creamy, with hints of jasmine and rose, accompanied by pepper and nutmeg that slowly permeate.

The base presents an abundance of woody notes, enhanced by warm amber and a hint of animal musk, with the flowers never being pushed into the background. It is a smoky-floral experience that offers a non-linear journey through its olfactory pyramid.

The longevity of the fragrance is reasonable, around 5-7 hours depending on the dosage, while the sillage remains classy and subtle. It is a fragrance that keeps the owner in mind and offers a unique olfactory experience.

Are we drinking tea in Japan?
The first time smelled in May and just said WOW, unfortunately the price was not right at the time. I just did not forget this fragrance one of the perfumeries near me had it as a final tester with him, I finally sprayed it on my wrist. and there was the scent again, I knew I had to have this fragrance in my collection, so I bought it here for a good price. my absolute favorite fragrance what can I say big. :)

Matsukita - quiet Japanese luxury
Matsukita was my first Clive Christian fragrance - a blind buy. I was curious about the brand and thought long and hard about what to start with. In the end, it was Matsukita - and looking back, that was a very good decision to become familiar with the House of Perfume.

At the beginning, the fragrance is pleasantly intense, but not overpowering. A "wow" moment. The pink pepper stands out in particular - finely dosed, never pungent, not too spicy either. There is also a fresh, slightly citrusy bergamot and a floral jasmine that builds up over time and combines with a soft woody note. The striking mate note is particularly exciting, giving the fragrance a cool, tea-like depth - unobtrusive but always present. It is not a classic sweetness, not a sweet floral fragrance - but rather a greenish-fresh elegance reminiscent of a cup of steaming tea drunk under cherry blossoms.

For me, Matsukita works perfectly in spring - preferably on a cool, clear morning. I prefer to wear it during the day, for example on a coffee date with my girlfriend. It's a fragrance that stays close to the skin but never disappears. There is always a hint of it wafting towards you - almost like a brief reminder that you are wearing the fragrance.

At 6-8 hours, the longevity is solid, the sillage rather subtle - but that fits. Matsukita does not and should not be loud. I have already received enough compliments. In my opinion, Matsukita is also more complex and exciting than Blonde Amber, if you can compare the two.

The bottle is - as you would expect from Clive - absolutely top class. Golden cap, red bottle. It embodies the fragrance extremely well.

Conclusion:
Matsukita is not a fragrance to start your collection with, it should rather be seen as an "add-on". But for anyone who already owns a few highlights and is looking for something different - complex, calm, subtle - it is perfect. A journey somewhere between tea house, flower grove and fine wooden inventory. Quiet, but luxurious.

This is what Interlude with Jamine and Bergamot would smell like. Addictive smell indeed, I like it in dry down. A very beautiful scent!

Spicy mate with a smoky-woody base is what I mostly get. It has good longevity with moderate sillage. It's nice, just not my cup of tea :)

Would never guess the notes by smelling it. Smoky maté on charred woods w/ hints of jasmine, but there are pervasive hints of barbeque also.

Please legit check this Clive Christian Matsukita
I traded for Clive Christian Matsukita and it is my first CC. Not familiar with the bottle. I am skeptical because the cap comes off really easily… not sure if that’s common or not. Please let me know :)
