Seeing in the dark
Blind - dark - I dare to dive into the unknown, without any idea of what awaits me. I allow the images that appear within me.

A harsh sting: "Are you sure? Do you really want to see in the dark?"
And already I am trapped, let myself be drawn into a tart, spicy corridor whose walls are hard and dry. The air is dusty. The corridor leads downwards. Dry earth surrounds me. Then a room opens up. The walls are covered in leather. The floor beneath my bare feet is cool earth. I am very still and can hear the leather breathing. My hands carefully stroke the moving leather. It becomes thinner, rising and falling with each breath. My fingers feel their way forward.
Suddenly my perception shifts and it is skin. My skin? Where am I? Do I want to go further? There is no turning back. The brief hesitation is absorbed by the desire to see... tenderness is the answer! I let her take me further, with her tender embrace and caress. And suddenly it becomes light. I am standing at the foot of a huge tree without bark. Raw, reddish-brown wood. My eyes wander up the trunk. My hands feel the tender touch of skin against skin. My perception alternates faster and faster between the intensely fragrant wood and the tenderly caressing skin. Then, far above, a scream! The trunk breaks and the wood splinters. Tightly wrapped in tenderness, I see the upper part of the trunk bend and reveal the inside of the tree. Like a crown, the splinters of wood reach up into the dark sky. I see the tree in its majestic beauty.

Only now do I notice the inner clarity and calm in the whole event. I close my eyes and stay - for a long time.

Many thanks to Can for this extraordinary fragrance!

dark mirror
There is a mirror in one of the rooms at the back. It is completely dark. Even when light falls into it, it is not reflected. You too are surrounded by darkness. Look into the mirror. Look for a long time. Your eyes need time to adjust. You have all the time you need... In the dark and in the dark mirror, you have the opportunity to see more, not less. Even what doesn't show up in bright daylight... The depth of the mirror really draws you in. And then you begin to see moods, past and future flashes and fade away again, moments of happiness and sadness, joy and pain, you hear soft voices and loud cries, see smoke and ashes, fresh and withered flowers. Sometimes everything weighs heavily on your shoulders, then you feel almost bodiless and weightless. As if the mirror were a gateway to eternity, to everything that is and ever was. Or to the depth of the cosmos, which is the same as the depth of your soul...
-----
In Peter Høeg's story "Mirror Image of a Young Man in Balance", the narrator, an engineer and mirror maker by trade, discovers that a concave mirror he has built and polished by a famous glass cutter appears to be alive. The man naturally falls in love, travels halfway around the world after the woman, and she finally shows him a mirror she has created, which makes it clear that anyone who looks into a mirror sees what they wish or fear to see. Therefore, a mirror that shows reality must itself be alive, "an organism that senses the mood of the observer and shows an image corrected for this mood." The narrator summarizes his experience in the following words: "Looking at reality does not mean grasping a structure. Rather, it means submitting and initiating an unmanageable transformation."
-----
Such a submission and transformation happens to me with this fragrance. At the beginning, I perceive tart oud. Then it becomes increasingly green and brighter, I associate it with lily of the valley - but it could also be completely different flowers that contribute a delicate sweetness. In my opinion, it remains cool throughout, sometimes almost metallic. Later, something licorice-aniseed is added and fades again. Then some smoky oud again. Now and again, something animalistic and bitter growls. Again and again, new impressions flare up and fade away again, replaced by new notes. Just as some forms reach the peak of their luminosity in combustion, fragrance impressions only become perceptible here again and again when they have almost disappeared.

Perhaps I would describe it differently again next week...
Great cinema, great and very special!

Fall with me...!
Falling! The time had come. The dark star knew that its time had come. It was preparing for the inevitable. To go out! It had always been the darkest star of all in its galaxy. Just once, just once, he wanted to be as bright as the other stars around him. And so it began to die and slowly fall! Gently at first and then faster and faster. The faster he fell, the brighter it became around him. Light surrounded him. Bright, soft and so infinitely light!
The dark star became brighter and brighter the lower it fell and the light illuminated its surface. No one could ever guess what was hidden and concealed there in the deepest darkness. All the beautiful and dark secrets he kept. But now he showed them. And so the dark star let go and released Zero-G. No Gravity...! Its surface slowly dissolved and all the tons of weight on it began to melt and rise like magma. In peaceful, liberating lightness!

Bright, luminous and as if carried by cosmic gases and aldehydes. So light as a feather, weightless and gentle. Resins slowly began to melt and melt. Disintegrating in a flight of sparks from billions of smoky, glowing fireflies. Soft like the tail of a comet or a stellar rainbow. And so the dark star fell deeper and deeper. And the light surrounding it became more and more creamy-silky and milky-matt. And suddenly it shone brighter than any star in its galaxy. He paused for a brief moment in time as his era passed him by. And as he began to fall again, the stars around him also sang. And they accompanied him with a sweet, animal song as he burned up and melted away in the illuminated, warm, soft brightness...!
Blackout
No one can say exactly what this perfume is made of. No pyramid, no notes, no clue. Blackout takes you with it. It takes you on a journey into the dark. But you sit in the light. You see the heaviness pass by in the shadow of the light. On the border between light and darkness, everything becomes weightless. The load of notes I can smell weighs as much as a ton. But here it weighs as much as a feather. You carry the shadow of light on you. That's how it seems to me! I recognize aldehydes, gases or oxigens. Infinite lightness. Carried on them a massive, heavy load. A hint of black magnolias or orchids. A shadow of light florality. Interspersed with melting resins of balsamic copaiva balsam, tolu balsam or opoponax. Waxy, soft, supple and delicately melting. Everything is briefly on fire. As if you were in the tail of a comet. A flight of sparks from the oldest Ottoman incense burns up for minutes. Woods burn up in the tail. Soaked in juices of creamy borneo oud and milky-soft guaiac wood. What remains is a delicately echoing and sweetish crackle of caramel and delicately bitter patchouli.

Conclusion
These are just my impressions. What Blackout will show you is individual. For some it will be darkness. For some, the light. And for some, a bridge to both. Like for me! Blackout is like a scream in the universe. Not actually audible. But if you are in a vacuum, it is infinitely loud. Because there you hear differently...! Blackout is like the shadow of light on your skin. Dark but completely weightless. Its ingredients may weigh tons, but you can't feel them! If one were to draw comparisons to other perfumes, Blackout would be comparable to Khan by Royal Crown and Chimaera by Terenzi. Both fragrances have a slightly resinous, spicy-sweet basic structure, but are not gourmands. And this also applies to Blackout...!

I go into the dark for you. Are you waiting for me by the stars?
