Summer Love 2016
After some time, here is a perfume that makes me want to write more than just 2 lines. The fragrances from Institut Très Bien have been on my wishlist for a long time. However, the prices for sample orders have always kept me from testing them. "So much money for cologne..." and so on...
Well, then unexpectedly the opportunity arose to test them in-store, live so to speak. All available skin areas were sprayed. In summer, there is plenty of space for such actions, delightful:)-
The opening of all 3 colognes (Française, Italienne, and Russe) is citrus-herb-spicy - NoNa! Really very beautifully classic cologne. But then the paths of the 3 little waters diverge in a truly surprising way: Italienne remains more faithful to the classic cologne, Russe becomes warm and velvety, almost oriental, and Française turns jasmine-rosy-creamy yet still fresh and herbaceous enough for warm summer days. Rather feminine in my opinion.
Cologne à la Française rightly bears its name, in the sense of effortless elegance, timeless and suitable for any occasion. Definitely NOT a sugary pink girl’s water or a club-like synthetic oud that crushes everything in its surroundings!
For me, it belongs to the fresh-bright green jasmine-iris-rose family, which I would also include Diorama (new version), Private Collection Jasmine White Moss, and Chanel Eau Première in my collection. Especially with the latter, there is a strong resemblance.
I would even go so far as to call Cologne à la Française the better Eau Première, as it is a bit more zesty and, above all, has a significantly better longevity, especially for something that calls itself cologne! On clothing, a lovely hint remains for days.
Of course, this is not reinventing the wheel. But for days when you need an elegance kick for whatever reason, as well as for lovers of timeless, fine, and not overwhelming fragrances, something truly beautiful is offered!
