Their superstar, Ardor!
My pleasure to present you - Ardor - Extrait de Parfum !
A spontaneously planned vacation, the finger pointed on the map at Palma de Mallorca and there we were.. Warm as always in July, 36°C in the shade. At night, all the party zombies woke up, the streets filled with a multitude of scents, most fruity-citrusy-floral. A paradise!
As a perfume enthusiast, as I may call myself, I started looking for perfumeries, hoping to find something special. Airport, city center, nothing special, all mainstream.
Then we noticed 2 "Niche Perfumes". ¡Vamos, adelante! We set off..
Both perfumeries, located west/northwest of the city of Palma, are in the basement of 2 hotels: St Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort and Castillo Hotel. The latter is better equipped, with a larger selection of perfumes.
In the "Niche Perfumes" at Castillo Hotel, we were greeted on a pedestal, like a king, by the "Ardor - Extrait de Parfum". And the saleswoman welcomed us even more politely and we were allowed to try everything we wanted. Extremely nice staff!
My attention turned to Ardor, as it was supposed to be something special. The first sprays hit my nose all the way to the olfactory cells and thus to the brain, a fruit blend, one of the finest. Xerjoff-like, but clearly improved. The description of the scent lists pear, mandarin, and blackcurrant as top notes. Everything very well balanced. And since I have no patience, I should buy a scent. As a gift, we were allowed to wear a scent of our choice. The saleswoman pff pff pffed us and so we were able to leave the perfumery happily.
Note: the saleswoman clarified that this is an Extrait de Parfum. There is a limited number of bottles, as the ingredients are only available every 5 years (?) Online (at nicheperfumes dot net) you can find the photo with the EDP variant, but when ordering it says Extrait. Mistake? Marketing? Both..?
On the way back to the hotel, I could faintly perceive the scent. However, my wife said it was strong. Nose-blind?
During the course, the heart notes began. For my untrained nose, the rose was predominant. A "bright", slightly sweet rose, not like MFK Oud Satin Mood.
The weather was against us. After a few hours, we should go shower. Even so, after the shower, the scent was still noticeable on my skin. My wife said it was a strength of 5/10. Later in the evening, I could still perceive an amber, woody scent. A couple of days later, the T-shirt still smelled sweet, warm. Likewise, on the tester strip, I can still smell amber, patchouli, and sandalwood after a few days when I think about it. Vanilla not so much, if at all, shyly in the background.
Conclusion: would I wear it again? Definitely YES! But not in such warmth and not during the day. I prefer to smell it in the evening when it gets a bit cooler.
Would I buy it? Definitely NO! It costs €980 for 100ml and thus exceeds my limit for a scent by about 2-3 times! Especially for one that is new, still unknown, and insufficiently tested by me..
Thank you very much for your attention and patience!
