Green mirage in the Texan heat
Sweet Do Nothing really surprised me, in a good way. When I order samples, I sometimes only skim the description without focusing too much on the notes, so I can use them to train my nose a bit and see what I pick up. With my silly European brain, I assumed a scent inspired by West Texas would smell dry, dusty, maybe a bit leathery - like a cowboy lounging in a hammock on a scorched porch under the desert sun. That was about the extent of my knowledge of Texas landscapes and climate.
But Sweet Do Nothing turned out to be the exact opposite. It’s lush, juicy, green and anything but dry. It has that signature DS & Durga feel and reminds me a bit of a brighter, more grounded version of Steamed Rainbow, but without the powdery base.
The opening is sparkling and fresh, with notes of cactus, fig and neroli giving it a green and slightly fruity edge. There’s a lovely clarity to it that lasts for the first hour or so. As it dries down, the musk becomes more dominant and the crisp green sparkle slowly fades. The musk is clean, almost soapy, which – combined with the lingering fig and neroli – gives it a slightly familiar "summer body care product" kind of vibe. Less distinctive than the opening, but still very pleasant to me.
Despite the listed notes, I didn’t really pick up anything bold or unusual like creosote or chili. For me, it’s mainly about the cactus, fig, neroli and (later) the musk.
I’m extra happy with this one because I adore green, fig-based scents for summer but often they disappoint because my nose sometimes turns lactonic notes (like milky fig or coconut) into something rubbery. Luckily, the fig here leans fruity rather than creamy and I can't detect any rubber.
