autumnal plum!
this one took me on a journey! when I first received my bottle, I was unimpressed. I couldn't pick out any of the notes I was excited for - no plum, no brûléed sugar, no buttercream. I could smell something vaguely woody and clove, and that was it. however, I decided to let it sit for a while, and once I revisited it I began to understand it. the plum note here is not fresh or vibrant, but it's something like candy; it's sweet, jammy, simmered over low heat. the buttercream stands out to me now, almost milky against the warmth of the other notes. the almond and sandalwood blend together for me in the base, and it's easy to pick out the toasted-ness of the almond. i am anosmic to ambroxan, so I can't say how exactly it contributes to the whole of the scent, but I'm choosing to believe it's doing something good in there. if I were to assign the autumn season a scent, this would be a contender; I think it captures the vibe quite nicely. as usual, Zomething Strange has produced something truly unique, and it's definitely worth every penny.
