If you purchase, buy it solely for the bottle
Curiousity killed the cat... I made the decision to buy samples of all 6 of The Sum's fragrances (three of them now discontinued), and this one is unsurprisingly the worst. By no means is it falsely advertised though - it smells like old over-grown concrete, with the strong acrid scent intact. Grade-A anti-perfume. Definitely an experience

Representative of Rogue Perfume's "DNA"
This fragrance is a very nice encapsulation of the through-line of Manuel Cross' repertoire, and I would imagine it to be a good jumping-off point for those who haven't smelled his other creations, or who don't have experience with any vintage colognes. While this isn't as unique as many of his other offerings, L'homme M. LaCroix is still a genuinely solid greenly floral leather, and could possibly garner more widespread appeal from those who are only casually into fragrance. It is a tad bit sharp at the opening for my taste, but the mid onwards is where this perfume shines. Truly appropriate to be dubbed his brand's L'homme offering.

A Gentlemanly Spicy-Animalic
Purchased a full sample collection from Rogue Perfumery, and was surprised to enjoy this one as much as I did. Usually when I label a scent as being somewhat "medicinal" it is a decidedly negative label, but this one is done so in a very aromatic, classical way. It remains balanced with a warm and nutty animalic or leathery base. The fragrance weirdly seems to be reminding me of family get-togethers with one of my especially macho uncles - though I know for a fact he doesn't wear cologne. Not the best oud fragrance in the world, but you can certainly do a lot worse.
