Mona di Orio Lux which was once discontinued is now released in the house's new bottles. The word Lux here doesn't mean luxury but rather "light".This fragrance starts with an initial blast of genuine lemons paired with musk. At first the lemon note is dominant (the light part of the fragrance) and the musk is weaker (the dark part). These two main notes interact with nice harmony as the heart and base of vanilla, cedar, sandalwood and petitgrain (although not mentioned in the note pyramid) come to life. The base and heart mentioned are quite similar to that of Vanille from this house , so I can assume that this is the house's signature DNA. This fragrance is relatively moderate in its projection and has great longevity. This is a fragrance which you have to use multiple times to fully understand its artistic properties. What was once a turn off fragrance for me is now a staple in my collection for the cooler summer days.

A Crowd-Pleasing Amouage
It seems as if Amouage is making changes in its perfume making strategy. Once its scents were very bold powerhouse masculines. Now, it seems that with the midnight flower collection and last year's Journey duo, Amoauge is trying to make polished scents that can be used as signature scents for the well dressed average (with a sense of style) consumer.
Now on to Journey....
Journey opens with a fresh yet spicy and smoky aroma. I say fresh because the the bergamot and neroli give it a fresh and a minute soapy edge and spicy because the sichuan pepper is the star of this fragrance. As time passes one is treated to a nice (yet repetitive and familiar) tobacco note that is paired with cardamon and incense. The base is relatively generic as it is composed of musk ,leather, and tonka beans.
From my review it may seem that I thought of Journey as an average fragrance, but that is not the case. It is a classical smelling fragrance (as if from the late 80's) done very very well. The projection is above average and so is longevity but is sub-par based upon Amouage's standards (which as I said is because Amouage is trying to make this mainstream and versatile and isn't necessarily a bad thing).
A good Amouage for even those who previously disliked this Omani brand's offerings.

BTW: It has a gorgeous bottle and the picture I took isn't doing justice to this beauty

Vanilla peek-a-boo
This is in my opinion the best from the house of MdO. This fragrance starts off with a blast of spicy and woody notes paired with "burning" bitter oranges in which I detect a lot of petitgrain. At this point there isn't even the slightest hint of vanilla. As time paces the most authentic vanilla-pod note can be smelled. This isn't your typical vanilla ice-cream sweet vanilla note but rather a dusty boozy one. This fragrance is best for cool summer nights and the beginning of autumn. This is a masterfully balanced , complex , high quality scent.
Truly unique, get your nose on this ASAP :)

P.S. there is a backstory to this perfume:"an old ship from long ago, on its way to Madagascar or the Comoros Islands, carrying precious cargo: rum barrels, oranges, vanilla beans, ylang-ylang, cloves and sandalwood." (From luckyscent.com). My picture below tries to depresent this story by showing the bottle immersed in water

A True Icon
Mitsouko! You were the one that got away but were murdered by the cowards. The one who escaped history to haunt me. What is it that you want? What is your mystery? Every time I spray you on you're telling me new things, new stories new fairy tales. Why won't you reveal all your secrets at once? Maybe it's because despite being a classic chypre your genius is still ahead of time. Jacques Guerlain worked magic with your lush "C4" peach note against the bed of oakmoss. Mitsouko if Louis Vuitton hadn't taken over you, if IFRA hadn't shot your soul you would have become without doubt the fragrance that everyone even by today's standards would envy.

Smell deep, smell rich, smell sophisticated, smell like Mitsouko!

What Angels Smell Like
What is Homage attar? It's a free fall into an ocean of taif roses.... roses so lush so ripe. sooo mouth watering coupled with the finest omani frankincense and just a faint touch of oud which gives off a floor polish vibe in a good way.
The neroli and citrus notes at the top gives it a soapy feel but the roses quickly dominate this arabesque treat. To summarize this masterpiece: Beautiful, Divine, Emotional
