The Lumberjacks Among Themselves
That could be the motto of Rocky Mountain Wood. Strong, woody, 100% masculinity is packed into this confidently presented fragrance from Dsquared2.
For me, this is the scent with the most power from the Wood series. Perhaps a bit too much power. For some, certainly. Because upon the first spray, the modern man will likely feel overwhelmed by the deep woodiness that wafts around him. One cannot speak of subtlety or restraint here. It comes across as aggressive and robust from start to finish. A strong sillage and medium longevity (about 5 hours on me) convince, in my opinion, not only the older audience but also have the potential to become a staple for the middle-aged. Rocky Mountain Wood is, in my opinion, very similar to Lalique's Encre Noire, but clearly has the price advantage. Personally, I prefer the Ocean Wet Wood from this series. When I'm in the mood for a bit more prominence, I mix the two fragrances, which does not clash at all and has already received positive feedback. Like its Wood brothers, the fragrance impresses with its straightforwardness and little change over time.
Anyone who enjoys rugged, woody, masculine scents is exactly in the right place here. Small tip: Currently, all Wood fragrances are available on Amazon for 24.90 (50ml) as of 16.4.14 --> Can I actually advertise here? No idea... Just buy it and try it out. It's worth it!!!

The Modern Lumberjack...
... dares to venture into the big city. This is my motto for the Dsquared2 Ocean Wet Wood.
For me, it is the most modern of the Wood series. Fresh, elegant, striking, and suitable for any occasion. The woody note is clearly at the center for me, but not as extreme as, for example, Rocky Mountain Wood. Woody yet understated, and thanks to its fresh modernity, it is also well-suited for a younger audience. The bottle is a matter of debate. The 100ml can slip from your hand while spraying due to its size, which is easier to manage with the 50ml. Visually, it is an absolute feast for the eyes. Wood, indeed!
I find the scent very straightforward, and it hardly changes over time. Longevity is okay, about 5 hours for me. Sillage is subtle, yet present. I have a penchant for mixing fragrances, which I often do here as well. When I feel like enhancing the sillage and prominence, I spray 1-2 spritzes of Rocky Mountain Wood underneath. They do not clash at all, and I was recently greeted by the lady at the registration office of my new car with the words, "Tell me immediately what fragrance you are wearing, my husband absolutely needs it." Isn't that exactly what we love? Maybe not everyone, but I love being asked about my fragrances. This usually happens when I reach for a blend of different scents. Which, of course, needs to be finely tuned. But back to the topic. Ocean Wet Wood is, all in all, a very successful adult, fresh, woody men's fragrance that could also find joy among the youth, provided they look beyond the One Million horizon... Like with every fragrance, this one finds its perfect completion with the matching shower gel.
Clear buying recommendation. (However, I know, for example, that Douglas no longer has it in stock. It can still be ordered online. Currently very, very cheap on Amazon for 24.90 for the 50ml. It is also an original; I recently ordered it.)

A Summer Fairy Tale to Dream About
Until now, I had absolutely no contact with Bvlgari, but my favorite perfume saleswoman gave me a small sample of shower gel and EDT from Aqva Amara during my last purchase. "You might like this," were her words, which I didn’t really register at the time. I was too pleased with my purchase of a new bottle of Dior Homme Intense. Yes, that’s exactly the fragrance direction I prefer. Generally, heavy winter scents are highly favored by me, and I haven't been able to get into fresh summer fragrances much, except for Jil Sander's Sun. However, yesterday was a day when I felt like trying something new again, and I ventured to try the sample of Aqva Amara. First, I showered with the shower gel and was already very pleased with this wonderful fruity scent that surrounded me in the shower, without quite realizing what was enchanting me so much. So, out of the shower, I threw on an outfit for the upcoming birthday party, styled my hair, and sprayed on the EDT. Wow, I was thrilled. Instantly, that incredible freshness hit my nose again. The mandarin notes slithered through my senses almost insistently, and I was simply blown away. My wife immediately said, "My goodness, that smells amazing," and from that moment on, I knew it had something special. Because she is quite picky about my fragrances. I personally don’t recognize the described incense notes at all. It’s just freshness and mandarin... That’s enough for my apparently very simply constructed nose. So I set off, curious to see how the further reactions, longevity, and sillage would develop. In the car, I already noticed how quickly the interior transformed into a fruit cave, and at the aforementioned party, I was certainly complimented on my wonderful scent three times. All criteria that clearly indicate a purchase for me. When we made our way home, the interior of the car was still wonderfully fresh, and at home, my clothes still smelled strikingly "Amara-like." Sillage and longevity passed the extreme test of a party with flying colors. To have a better comparison, I went to the perfume department of a well-known large corporation today and tested Aqva Men, Tonique, and Marine, and found that they all share a somewhat similar base note, but Aqua Amara stands out positively. It is fresher and has the highest recognition value of all in the Aqva collection. All in all, as a Bvlgari newcomer, I believe that Mr. Belletrud has succeeded in creating a true masterpiece, which I give a clear recommendation for purchase as a summer fragrance for 2014. Thank you and bye bye.

So Cal has a new addition
As a former opponent of the trend label Hollister, I must admit that I have now fallen for this brand. During one of my recent visits to a Hollister store (which is always a 1.5-hour drive for me), I intentionally sought out the new perfume So Cal so chill first. Full of expectations, I sprayed it on a tester and was immediately thrilled. I expected a copy of the predecessor So Cal, but what I got was something completely different. The "new" one does have that typical Californian note that you know from Hollister at the beginning, but it feels a bit more synthetic, yes, a bit artificial, but also very special. The scent is hard for me to describe, as it is unlike any fragrance I have encountered before. This probably doesn't help anyone much here, but I would advise any self-proclaimed Hollister fan to buy it and try it for themselves. My initial overall rating was very high, but when I analyzed the scent more closely at home after a bit more time, I noticed its extreme short-lived nature. After about 2 hours, the synthetic fun is already over, which I don't know from its predecessor So Cal. The prices are, just like with So Cal, not that high, but considering that this is a mass-produced fragrance made in Asia, it quickly becomes clear that you are simply paying for the name Hollister. As I said, I gladly do that as a self-proclaimed fan, but whether So Cal so chill will establish itself just like its family head, I tend to doubt, although due to its popularity, it is within the realm of possibility. The bottle is also the same, only the color differs with a nice-looking blue. I always enjoy spraying myself with the So Cal body spray after showering in the evening, and adding a couple of spritzes of So Cal edt or So Cal so chill makes no difference. Hollister, indeed, has an inexplicable allure for me, a model label that only Superdry can match. I also want to mention that I am aware of the lesser quality of such a lifestyle perfume, but in this case, it simply doesn't matter. In this sense, I will chill for a few more hours on a wave of Hollister and mentally lie on the Californian beach.

Divided Fragrance Avalanche
Through the reviews here on Parfumo and the supposed similarity to Dior Homme, I was tempted into a new blind buy and ordered Paul Smith man at a quite reasonable price.
Full of expectation, I sprayed a small amount on my wrist after showering. Wow, I thought. Powdery iris note a la Dior and a little sweetness excited my fragrance senses. Without thinking further, I sprayed another 2-3 times, got dressed, and drove to work. In the car, however, my pleasantly started fragrance transformed into a true jungle monster. OK, I’m deliberately exaggerating a bit, but the initial comparison with Dior Homme came to an end. The praised incense and anise were clearly recognizable, which personally does not appeal to my nose at all. In fact, it even caused a bit of a headache and my initial euphoria was gone. Of course, this is my personal feeling and has nothing to do with the quality of the perfume. On the contrary, it has a strong sillage and the longevity is decent. For me, however, it is no comparison to Dior Homme. All in all, for men who have a preference for this particular incense note, it is definitely recommended due to the currently really low price. What I will do with my opened 30ml bottle, I’m not quite sure yet ;)
