A Real Hit!!!
Curious due to the good reviews and the often-mentioned extreme similarity to one of my absolute favorite fragrances, Dior Homme, I googled a cheap supplier online and had the little bottle delivered for 32.80 euros including shipping. Already today, one day after placing the order, the goods arrived. I call that fast delivery!!! After freeing the bottle from its very snug packaging, I opened the screw cap (!!!) of the bottle and treated myself to a good spray on my wrist. The satisfied grin that followed is still on my face now, nearly an hour later, and will probably last for a while, as I was truly surprised by the absolute similarity to the "original," even though I had been warned by my predecessors here on the review podium. Honestly, I have never experienced anything like this in my sniffing career; if someone had blindfolded me beforehand, I would have sworn I was smelling my favorite from Dior. Of course, now that some time has passed, a slight difference can be noted, which even I, as a fan of Dior Homme, can detect as a layperson in the realm of perfumes. There is a certain note that does differ from the more expensive counterpart, but it plays a secondary role here, without me being able to precisely describe in which direction it goes or where it comes from. I only know that I could completely confirm the suspicion of one of my predecessors, namely that out of 100 testers with their eyes closed, probably 95 would guess that they are smelling the luxury fragrance. And that says it all, doesn’t it? When you also consider that you get a real doppelgänger for half the price, even if it can't quite keep up in terms of intensity and longevity, one must absolutely recommend this for purchase. Personally, I will treat myself to 2-3 more bottles with my Christmas money, also as possible gifts for dear people, who will hopefully look just as amazed and satisfied as I still do.

Dry Powdered & Copied!
Out of the Top 100!!! ;) That could have been my headline too... Even though I praised the new Valentino quite a bit, neither it nor Dry Oil belongs in the men's Top 100... The rating for Dry Oil is definitely too high at the moment, as it is really just a good, half as expensive Dior Homme copy, somewhere between Original and Intense, a bit dirtier, rougher, and more synthetic... But still, just to bring it down, I wouldn't give the fragrance 20%, as often happens here in the forum to push favorites... usually, those gentlemen don't write any comments about it either.

So thanks for the sample of Dry Oil, as it definitely deserves a short comment, especially from people who know the Dior Hommes inside and out. And besides, it’s always sensible to form your own opinion. For example, everyone told me Ilum Dean Fresco was a complete Aventus rip-off - but after today’s test, I can hardly confirm that.

Powdery, with a bit less iris than the original, yet still very sweet and extroverted. Baby powder and makeup. But it is a bit more blurred, not quite as clean. Dry Oil is not an inappropriate name. The scent is warming, sugary, and simply elegant and classy. This DNA is kind of made for a suit and has turned the men’s fragrance world upside down. It’s a wonder why not more copies are sprouting up.

Bottle: I find it rockin' and nice.
Sillage: powdery scents are never for wallflowers.
Longevity: 7-8 hours - also here: close to the master.

The most obvious and best of all copies - high quality & a cost-saving option - yet still a copy. And the Diors aren't exactly unaffordable now either. Therefore, I would try to make the original appealing to everyone and add a few euros more!

Congruent...or Dior's Dry Oil
Out of pure desperation, I bought this bottle. Dior Homme was "gone" after 45 minutes... okay, I added a bit more... DHI was "gone" after an hour... on the first day, one spray was enough for almost an entire day. DHI was only used every few weeks... so no adaptation or habituation was possible. Even the new Bentley didn't last longer than 2.5 hours for me... at least that was clear from the start @sarcasmoff @

Then I read here that Dry Oil is supposed to be a twin of the two Diors... so I took my last chance before I had to commit olfactory suicide via Duro or Montale (hellish longevity).

What can I say... Dry Oil is truly a scent twin to the two aforementioned fragrances... I can't detect a single difference. Immediately, there's the wonderful powdery note, the famous lipstick accord... the liqueur-like aspect... I simply love this fragrance direction... even if the overly masculine critics immediately come out of their holes. I don't need a fragrance to support or simulate my masculinity... rather, I think if my masculinity is slightly underdeveloped, then one definitely needs a very masculine perfume (@hobby-psychology-course-finished@).

Dry Oil is the crossover of DH and DHI... meaning it has the initial freshness of DH and the powdery sweetness of DHI... only that for me (caution special case!!!) the freshness remains throughout the entire scent development, albeit subtly in the background... but definitely perceptible. Dry Oil lasts about 5 hours on me (wow, new record!)... I can definitely live with that... DHI still has a bit more to offer for "normal" noses... but for now, I'm satisfied and "saved";-) The long-term test will show if there are any fine differences. With Aventus and Tierra del fuego, I also only noticed more differences after months of continuous use... at first, they smelled 95% the same to me... here it's 100%. 100ml for currently €46 at amaz..... is also a significant pro for Dry Oil... even if it is supposedly being discontinued.

The Dior bottles are significantly more beautiful and elegant... Dry Oil is more for moped rockers and/or Wolfgang Petry fans... see lucky bands... but the vintage metal look has its charm too. Clear recommendation to buy!

Dior Homme Intense - indeed!
One must give it to Superdry, they have succeeded! It is truly astonishing when you perceive "Dry Oil" for the first time. This is "Dior Homme Intense"! You examine it more closely, but the scent withstands every test. There is the distinctive and famous iris lipstick base. Check! This harmony of liqueur-like sweetness, which never becomes overwhelming because powdery nuances wonderfully make the cloying, candy-like sweetness permanently enjoyable. Check! Added to this is the fine vanilla note that pleasantly and meaningfully distinguishes Intense from the regular "Dior Homme". Check!

It somehow manages to transport these rather feminine ingredients into a masculine context, just as Dior succeeded in doing back in the day. This is impressive because "Dior Homme" or Intense withstands many analyses and appears anything but easily copyable. Even some perfumers do not hide the fact that they would love to call this masterpiece their own. Superdry comes incredibly close to this legendary DNA with "Dry Oil", one could even rightly claim that they are twins.

However, there are two problems with this. First, while it is sometimes not easy to imitate something, the creativity behind it is certainly questionable. Nevertheless, there is much that is poorly copied. However, this is almost a copy at eye level; the difference between "Dry Oil" and "Dior Homme Intense", even if some will certainly claim otherwise, is not something that very many would recognize with their eyes closed, and if they did, only extremely sensitive noses - out of 100 people, at most 5.

Anyway. Secondly, the whole thing lacks a justification for existence, as "Dior Homme Intense" does not seem to be easily copyable. At least the price difference is not so high that one would forgo the original, and in my opinion, one should not. In terms of direction, there are also no differences, so I would personally always choose "Dior Homme Intense".

Thus, "Dry Oil" is indeed a high-quality and impressive copy of its model, no doubt about it, which clearly distinguishes it from La Martina's Aventus copying attempt "Tierra del Fuego", but still, the latter has more justification for existence because it represents a significantly cheaper alternative to the original. One cannot claim that about "Dry Oil" by any means, but independent of this "Dior Homme Intense context", this is an excellent scent that I consistently rate accordingly.

For me, the entry into a new world of fragrance
I have always been a fan of fresh, light summer scents until the day I accidentally discovered Superdry's dry oil at a friend's place. This blend of leather and vanilla captivated me, and since then, I have been an absolute fan of Superdry.
By now, I know that dry oil is really a good copy of Diors Homme / Homme Intense, which does not diminish my enthusiasm at all. For me, dry oil was present before DHI, and now I own both. Recently, the third brother, Valentino's Uomo, has joined them, and these three fragrances are an absolute fulfillment for me. Of course, for many perfume experts, it's nothing special, but for my nose, it is a masterpiece and indispensable. Unfortunately, dry oil is no longer available in retail but only available online. If anyone knows differently, please let me know where I can still get it. But to my knowledge, Superdry has discontinued the production of the vintage series.
I will now put on my latest Superdry sweater and oil myself up dry ;)

The lipstick for men.
With iris-powdered skin, it spreads a sense of well-being and good vibes.
Valentino and Dior send their regards...

Yes, it definitely has a bit of that vintage vibe. Powdery iris with a hint of sweetness in the drydown. Superdry - the name really fits here :)
