The Faint Whiff of a Women's Fragrance
After already owning two real highlights from Parfums de Marly (Layton and the simply magnificent Oajan), I made a blind purchase of Herod. I should have left it alone; however, a sample was included with the fragrance itself. Thus, in the end, I was relieved to be able to return the original packaged bottle.
After the first test, I initially perceived very little to nothing at all. The two other Marlys mentioned above hit you almost immediately and then embark on a wonderful journey of development. Herod, on the other hand, remains quiet, very quiet, with a hint of tobacco, a bit of smoke. None of the listed notes can I directly perceive here, except for later a feminine cherry note, paired with floral accords. Almost like roses, lily of the valley.
In anticipation of hopefully a more masculine development soon, I waited in vain. On the contrary. The fragrance remains linearly feminine and disappears again after just an hour! Additionally, my nose was in direct (!) contact with my arm. Hello? Where are you, please!?
IS THIS REALLY IT FOR SUCH AN EXPENSIVE FRAGRANCE? Unbelievable…
Where are the guarantees for masculine notes like tobacco and incense? Not present, not even remotely recognizable.
The tester was applied again after a week. Sometimes you just have a bad day. Unfortunately, the cited experience repeated itself.
No guys, this is not acceptable, return initiated.
100 of my other conventional fragrances have a significantly stronger character and presence than this one. For me, it's a fake-both in price and content.

What a mistake!
This dream fragrance is exemplary of the mistakes made by some perfume manufacturers! How could they possibly discontinue this masterpiece? A huge mistake!
The scent captivates not only with the fantastic design of the bottle but also with an incredible uniqueness! Spicy, slightly sweet, and very long-lasting! A brilliant, creamy blend of nutmeg, cardamom, and later incense. Lavender provides calmness and a sense of comfort! Definitely ahead of its time! A time that had so much more to offer than today’s boring endless loop of flankers and offshoots!
Back then, there were unique hits! And new fragrances were still new fragrances!
I remember well the many compliments, NEMO was something special!
It’s a shame that Cacharel - alongside the equally timeless “pour Homme” - didn’t just let it continue.

Is that… Kiton Napoli?
Time and again, I have had favorite fragrances in the past that were inexplicably and suddenly discontinued.
Unfortunately, this also included the top fragrance KITON NAPOLI. I bought it repeatedly and never went without it in the late 90s. I have never received such positive feedback about any other fragrance as I did with this one.
With some skepticism, I recently purchased ARCIPELAGO UOMO - ACQUA DELL ELBA as a blind buy in the Eau de Toilette version. It was absolutely worth it. This fragrance truly possesses the beautiful base of Kiton Napoli - seemingly fresh and clean but still with a floral sweet note. I clearly attribute this to the contents of lily of the valley, jasmine, and cedar. It must be said that this combination is often found more in women's fragrances; however, the scent direction here is by no means feminine.
So … this fragrance is for me like a beloved past that has been brought back. Ideal for spring and summer without being - like many fresher scents - citrusy!
WOW !

Unfortunately without inspiration! Completely lacking perception and longevity!
Unfortunately, DIOR has decided to take the previous DIOR Homme - a huge successful fragrance - off the market or rename it to DIOR Homme Original. Instead of giving this current release - a completely new scent - a completely new name, they are now consciously choosing to confuse their loyal customers!
If I create something new, then please under a completely new name. This one certainly wouldn't have threatened the position of the first DIOR Homme (Original)!
What has emerged is a rather insignificant and, above all, hardly perceptible fragrance. It starts quite fresh and spicy - a peppery bergamot opening. Unfortunately, the scent direction doesn't really change, and the wearer no longer perceives the fragrance after just 30 minutes. The fresh and spicy scent is "just okay" - but what a mega-weak performance for a house like DIOR! I myself have doused myself with about 30 sprays without anyone noticing the scent. In my opinion, any fresh-spicy shower gel would suffice here.
On the other hand, the heavy and high-quality bottle is beautiful! An absolute eye-catcher. But what good is it if the content is quite meaningless?
I can only recommend everyone to buy up the first version! Already difficult to find, seemingly only available online under DIOR HOMME ORIGINAL. Definitely already disappeared from the stores.
Unfortunately weak! Grade 3-

Also this one: Exceptionally GENIUS!
Comme des Garcon fragrances are never mainstream, they are never quiet! On the contrary: They are the great challenges for the wearer!
Comme des Garcons Blackpepper was - also due to its previous rarity among suppliers - an absolute blind buy, which, as expected, did not disappoint me at all!
At first, one might say "Well, what’s on the label is also in the bottle"! The extreme pepper bomb really kicks in! But it doesn’t create an unpleasant feeling, because despite everything, it is a warm opening. The scent makes you incredibly curious... about the further development! After all, one is used to some surprising facets from CdG. The synthetic note criticized by some does not bother me at all; I don’t perceive any synthetics! Blackpepper seems to open up completely, suddenly woody notes and the typical incense play a major role, without the peppery opening disappearing. A tremendous softness emerges, creating a real cuddly feeling. The subtle musk note and patchouli at the end complete the picture!
In short: CdG has once again succeeded in creating an extraordinary and genius fragrance! An elegant masterpiece; the wearer will certainly be approached positively often.
The sillage is outstanding! Two sprays on the back of the hand (!) are enough after hours to be asked on the street what fragrance it is... :-) so any questions??
The bottle is tried and true - this one shimmers black/purple; the spray head performance is strong and efficient!
So, let’s hope that Blackpepper (which is by the way advertised with a sophisticated video) will soon be available in stores and not just online!
