My Amber No *6

The day fled into the night. With Per Fumum Ambar. It's an amber like the night and the night is brown and the scent is heavy. And heavy lies an animalic cloud far over the hallway. Far over oily sand, over soaked clay, over the humus of the earth. You smell Ballistol. You smell dried labdanum and dominating oud. You feel dull-smelling rubber. Green vetiver, hiding with roses, at the base.

A lizard seeks its path in the branches of bergamot, encircling dull, tarnished wood and tobacco, crawling over powerful shavings, over dark wood, over old bitter oranges and deep oud. All the way into cellar-like vaults. Into the corners of darkness.

Sluggish as swell, a lone wave flows in. With a quaint sound of distant tides. It flows in and away again, in heights for the vibrating soul, in depths for tamed passion. Amber, labdanum and tobacco in unison. No amber from the tree, no sweet styrax, no copal from Punt. No, ambar, a mystery captured by Annette Neuffer.

An essence with rumor and promise. Until the early morning. Over it hovers a film of oil. Slightly sweet, slightly caramel, creamy heavy. And all dull in matte mangrove. In this calm there is no lift, no flight to the firmament. No light smoke rising to the sky. Long this night lingers, and only slowly does the dawn break over the horizon.

And the cloud fades with the dreams.

A small fluke. A little tsunami. The wave rolls to the beach, quickly degrades in the sand.

The label announces amber, medium brown, amber! Amber it shall be. Curiosity high. On the inside description, you read "amber." Great. Joy big. But it is balsamic Styrax with maybe a pinch of Liquidambar. From the tree (?). Is now the disappointment big? No.

The second fragrance from Demeter has "Ambergris" written on it (my comm. no. 76) and is benzoe with vanilla in it. No ambergris, no ambergris. Now the only thing missing for irritation is the expression amber. No, it doesn't work like that. Very chaotic

Both fragrances with minimal silage (4.0), but considerable skin-tight durability (7.0 to 8.0).

You have to overlook the inconsistencies. Benevolent. And enjoy the two fragrances delicately.

It's worth it.

Here you can only think of delicate vanilla boats floating over empty fields in the warm autumn wind. All in light brown. Of course in ambergris brown, if that's what you call it.
