Similar But Very Different
Yes yes, we've heard it countless times since it's release..... "This smells like Oud For Greatness" "This is a PDM money grab" "They are too similar to warrant a buy".....

I agree Oud For Greatness and Haltane are VERY SIMILAR. Where I see a major difference is in the mass appeal, sweetness, performance, and complexity.

Overall, Haltane is a much easier fragrance to love. You won't lose any friends wearing it. It is an odd and powerful frag, but it is still gorgeous in its composition and overall more wearable than OFG. I find OFG (for the size) a bottle you could sit on for 20 years and still never use it up. It is very hard to pull off around ppl that don't understand blended Ouds...

The mass appeal comes with the added sweetness of Haltane as opposed to the spicy leaning OFG. This makes this fragrance an elite winter gem, it just has a way of cutting through the Dec and January air... (Based in Chicago, IL)...

The performance is MUCH BETTER with OFG, on my skin I get easily, 24 hours of power, sillage is also better with OFG, but overall on my skin Haltane shines bright for 6 hours and slow dwindles near the 12 hour mark.

The complexity of both these fragnces is incredible. OFG inspired Haltane, and OFG is one of the best done Ouds in recent recollection (another great oud is Oud Satin Mood - MFK but it leans to feminine in my eyes). Where Haltane gains strength is in it's added sweetness and playful presence. OFG may upset some noses, Haltane, though if worn in the wrong environment, will not.

A YouTube reviewer said it best. Haltanw is a playboy walking into a room, OFG is a gentlemen walking into a room. You decide what you want to be.

Overall Haltane is a winner for me.

Scholar's Mate!
I love it, yes it does mirror Santal 33 but it has a much different approach. Where Santal has a barnyard/hay opening, Scholar's Mate takes on a lighter almost tea bag approach.

I get 8+ hours of longevity along with a two arm length sillage. Will this cologne fill up a room? Probably not, but your group of friends will definitely be able to smell you and ask you what you have on.

This is a pricey cologne but you get what you pay for. Rest easy knowing that the ingredients are of the highest caliber and sourced ethically. This bottle will price many people out of it's market, but like most niche, it's not for people looking for cheap and easy.

Scent: 9/10
Longevity: 8.5/10
Sillage: 8/10

Overall this is a solid 8.5/10 fragrance not the best from the line, but the one I have been reaching for the most recently.
