A Thoroughbred that’s worth its price tag
My-my-my… This scent is… Wow, wonderful!
A fougère spin on a contemporary Oud accord, a dash of playful sweetness lending from praline, and a very punchy aromatic opening from the sage; all combine beautifully between a rich semi-rubbery leather/saffron blend. Jordi Fernández did AMAZING work with Haltane.
One of my favorite parts of this is during the dry down: When the praline attains this deeply satisfying creamy chocolatey note and it lays beside the wood accord. It’s sensual, a little carnal with the saffron adding a rich spice to the mix, but my lord does it smell absolutely stunning. Masculine, confident, but not overbearing.
All of this beauty dries down to a bed of musky woods after 9-10hrs, touches of sweetness lingering until it’s a skin scent. Noble yet delicate and playful and balanced with precision.
Between this and Layton Exclusif, I can say that these two are the only PdM’s that are worth the price tag for me. If you haven’t smelled this, get a sample/decant, it’s well worth it if you enjoy surreptitiously crafted woody-aromatic scents.
I’ll openly admit, I wear this leisurely when I’m at home. I don’t know why, don’t ask… Sweatpants and a t-shirt on but I’m leaving a trail of wood and sage behind me, enjoying my own sillage. Is this meant to be dressed up? Absolutely, it’s deserving of such treatment, but I enjoy it enough to spray it anytime. Senior. Fernández, has crafted a luxurious and masculine addition that’s worthy of the PdM price tag and the Thoroughbred name. Don’t sleep on this one.
