The self-fulfilling prophecy of the "compliments magnets"..
...or to put it a little less cryptically: you can also force compliments. The fragrance just has to be strong enough. Anyone who treats themselves to 6 sprays of Oud Maracuja and strolls through the city is very likely to be approached about it. It is therefore a self-fulfilling prophecy resulting from the strength of the fragrance.

The fallacy, however, is that it does not automatically mean that you smell good.

How do I come to that conclusion?
Take Oud Maracuja, for example, for which I have now seen three influencer videos with the headline "Compliments guaranteed":
Out of 10 people who smell it, 7 think "Jesus, what is that smelly stuff he's drizzled himself with". One is neutral, and the other 2 give you the compliment you've been waiting for. So in total, you've bagged 2 compliments (and left the others with at least an irritated, amused, if not disturbed impression).

If you wear a Pomelo Sorrento, on the other hand, you probably won't get any compliments at all, simply because it doesn't radiate such an extreme vibe. However, if you get closer, you will almost certainly be perceived as smelling very good. It just happens much less often.

So which of the two is the better fragrance...? The one that has earned more compliments? By no means.
So don't let any You Tubers tell you that Oud Maracuja is a compliment magnet. (Cue self-fulfilling prophecy).

Now to the fragrance:
The eponymous ingredients are the program. To my nose, they suppress almost everything else and are characterized by a potency that is second to none. The saffron comes through more at the end. That's actually it for the fragrance description.

Oud Maracuja is above all a slap in the face. Made for people like Kai P...en, for whom it can't be strong enough. Stand out at all costs. Nothing that can be associated with style or understatement. Lambo instead of classic car. Gucci label instead of silent fashion.

Certainly great craftsmanship, innovative, an interesting creation for perfume lovers. But too much for most people. I showed it to 10 people and they all reacted with something like "Oh God" and mostly washed their hands immediately.

I don't want to offend anyone who likes to wear stronger fragrances. I don't want to spend €250 on a fragrance that nobody will smell. However, this trend towards ever stronger fragrances is slowly getting on my nerves. The above-mentioned You Tuber (among others) is tirelessly following this trend. He cries himself to sleep when he has to go to bed without a compliment. Oud 31 puts the crown on the whole thing. It's no longer about smelling good, but about impressing on everyone that you're wearing something expensive.

Good news at the end: if you only press the sprayer twice, you're back in the style zone. Then it is wearable and, in my opinion, also pleasantly present in the wearer's more intimate surroundings. For fans of this fragrance who know how to use their finger on the trigger, I recommend testing it. I don't want to offend anyone with this comment who likes the fragrance and knows how to use it.
