With the Heart in the Pants
My first comment is dedicated to a fragrance that represents an entry into the world of scent artistry for me.
Of course, I had tried plenty of other fragrances before Lui, but this one was the first where I could recognize and follow a story, an idea.
Lui starts, as has been described so often, as something that requires getting used to, yes, animalistic.
A fact that led me not to stop after the first attempt, which left a rather disturbed impression.
Of course, I read the comments before my first test and thought to myself, it can't be that bad, that animalistic. People tend to exaggerate, especially when it comes to things that are a bit uncomfortable.
In short, they were right. The barnyard smell, or rather the puma cage, is indeed very accurate. But, and this is the good thing about it, this opening does not last long. At least not for me. After a few minutes, the spell is broken.
And somewhere here, the whole story begins to become intriguing.
It is the story of evolution, a life that leads from the end to the beginning, the Benjamin Button of fragrances.
At the start, we smell the lonely guy who has lived his life and only wants to serve himself now. No more compromises, no folklore, no consideration - the lone wolf who takes what he needs. Those who don’t like it are either eaten or ignored, depending on the day.

Lui gives us, as mentioned, only a brief glimpse into this era to show us what happened before. The old wolf was probably once a rather pleasant fellow, the leader of the pack - sure, but much more sociable. The leather note that emerges (which strongly reminds me of Knize Ten) provides noticeable relaxation, giving our protagonist a bit of civilization back. It creates the image of a man who, although still unconventional, walks through the world history, but precisely because of that, he also appears attractive. He impresses in torn jeans and a white shirt just as much as in fine attire, but always far removed from daily shaving and visits to mother-in-law.
After some time has passed, he becomes increasingly gentle. Floral notes and a first hint of amber make themselves known.
The man in his mid-thirties has become a proud young man.
A kind of Romeo who prefers to cuddle with Juliet in bed rather than go hunting with the wolves. Affectionate, sweet, seductive, a bit more delicate than before (or in a few years - depending on your perspective) but always masculine.

At the very end of the story, then, from the old wolf has become a puppy, nothing of the excitement of the previous life can be felt, only peace, contentment, and an aura of sensuality - with which everything somehow began....

Lui is a fragrance that wants to be discovered and, if one allows it, can tell beautiful stories. For me, exactly what elevates a perfume to art. It is for the wearer, not for the bystander ;)
No compromises, but please no fear either.
