Super fresh cheapie
Amazing freshie, in a millennial era style, has a clear rosemary body together with dewy aquatic notes and violet leaf, references can be made here and there to L'eau Bleu d'Issey, Lanvin Homme Sport, Calvin Klein Truth and Acqua di Gio. It's like a mash of all. Also speaking from memory, this has resemblence to the discontinued Bvlgari Man Extreme. If you love the golden era of Morillas-esque aquatics of the millennium, you'll probably love this too.

As good as "expensive niche" woody leather frags
If this was widely available, it would be hyped a lot. I put it in the ranks next to much more expensive fragrances like Penhaligon's Halfeti, Paithani, Tom Ford Ombre Leather, Armani or Guerlain's private collection oud-leather fragrances.

It has BdK Gris Charnel vibes on cardamom note but much more leather and amber. Sandalwood drydown is only for close encounters. The cypriol gives the clean oud-papyrus scent with dry smokey woods lingering in the background.

One of the best CdG fragrances ever
I see many people influenced by the creatively listed ink note and scent description mentioning unusual things like Comme des Garcons do most of the time. But you won’t see same people going crazy under i.e. Calvin Klein - Truth for men, which is certainly a very similar fragrance to Odeur 71 and perhaps even inspired from.

The ink node is certainly a mix including Adoxal (a Givaudan product, an aldehyde, that is super strong, metallic, marine with cyclamen undertone). I get another another aldehyde, from aliphatic group (the ones known to be used in Chanel No.5) which is Aldehyde C12 MNA giving a peculiar plasticy, metallic, industrial backbone. Pear and galbanum top (Dynascone? Important in Aventus pineapple note too) with cinnamic & aromatic basil/bay or pimento leaf kind green herbs/leaves, you could pass this greenery as the “bamboo” note and with addition of aromatic leaves perhaps feels similar to aromatic notes a la Carolina Herrera - 212 for Men, Dior - Higher, Calvin Klein - Truth and even Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger. I think Odeur 71 is influenced by and influenced others. This smells like 2000s.

Under the aromatic layer we find CdG style musks, my bet is on Habanolide, and probably a good dose of Iso E Super for transparent cedar effect, with sandalwood, again a popular trend of 00s.

I suggest you try Calvin Klein - Truth in case you can’t find Odeur 71 easily or thought it's a bit tricky on the nose.

A classic
Like the rest of the series Red, Sequoia, being my absolute favorite of them all, is a pioneering fragrance. People go crazy about Initio - Oud for Greatness since 2018 and here we have the father of that formula. Much respect to Bertrand Duchaufour for this timeless creation. I strongly believe Initio is inspired by Seried 2 Red: Sequoia. I get a great black peppery blend with oakmoss, Cashmeran, cloves, cedar, and woody ambers like Ambrocenide or AmberXtreme. Oud note is probably an illusion created as usual by Cypriol oil and Kephalis (another woody ingredient).

Instant love, nuf said.

Smooth woody suede
Ahead of its time, like many CdG fragrances of yesteryear, this one is also an amazing blend considering 2001 that I believe inspired many perfumes that is loved today, for sure Commodity Milk, Le Labo Tonka 25 and Santal 33, Zara - Ebony Wood comes to mind first. Burberry - London for men using a similar accord on a more masculine/aftershave direction with oakmoss and leather.

Not caring for the listed notes usually, I get huge dose of Coumarin (tonka) on a layer of cedarwood virginia + Iso E Super + lactonic accord (could be the most lactonic ingredient i know, Methylaitone) and perhaps some sandalwood accord.

There is Eugenol clove-spicy effect but I can’t say it’s on the forefront.

Amazing scent for its time and still.
