That Girl
I scored a cheap full bottle on FragranceNet after using up the department store sample. I wore her yesterday because I needed to project a certain image to law enforcement or the courts to help out a friend, and this perfume did not disappoint!
This beautiful light purple perfume gives quiet luxury, wealth, and sophistication. She projects elegance and poise without falling into your grandma's closet territory.
She's soft, floral, and warm, with a hint of powder that reads as classy rather than elderly. Expertly blended, as I had a hard time discerning the individual notes on my skin. The projection and lasting power were surprisingly long-lived and absolutely lovely.

A Lovely Disappointment
I bought a travel size of this, thinking it would be my wedding perfume. I played it smart and tested it the weekend before the event, and I'm so glad I did because...it absolutely wasn't what I wanted.
My skin chemistry is unique and does odd things sometimes, and this was no exception. It's beautiful in the air, gorgeous on paper, and a complete disappointment on my skin. I got no marshmallow, no gourmand. A beautiful floral opening and then a weird, difficult-to-describe heart note. It wasn't bad necessarily but it was absolutely the wrong choice for my big day.

Memories of Austin
This scent was created for the Blackmail Boutique of Austin, Texas which closed, after more than two decades, just before Covid. I was worried that with the closure of a staple business, Kerosene would discontinue the scent, and I'm so glad to have been proven wrong.
I picked up a sample at the Scent Bar in NYC this past September and only got around to testing it last night. It's powerful, subtle, sexy, mysterious, and took me right back to Blackmail Boutique. I need to add a full bottle to my collection.

My Favorite Fragrance of All Time!
This is my signature cold-season scent.
It opens with the must of a sun-filtered library, dustmotes floating in the slight breeze of an open window.
It settles into vellum, ink, and leather at the heart. The feeling of spending hours doing research in ancient, heavy tomes at a worn wooden desk.
And oh so subtly, it morphs into the base notes of a hearth, a slight smoky accord to compliment the squashy leather chair before the fireplace, in which you sip your tea and read your saga of a novel in a quiet evening.
I quite literally cried when they discontinued this one, and I'm hoarding the last bottles I can find.
