I got this for Christmas as an unexpected gift and it's rapidly displaced every other fragrance in my collection. The blending of tobacco, frankincense, and oud with citrus is truly something incredible. Smells like the incense the priests used to dispense at Easter Vigil in that little metal shaker combined with my grandfather's tobacco pipe. Niche and weird, but warm and comforting (to me at least). I'm going to exhaust this bottle before long.
Chanel needs to start stocking this again
I was returning from a job interview in Albuquerque (I got the job, by the way) and had a layover in Dallas. I was very pleased to spot Egoiste in the duty free store there and snapped it up. I continue to be impressed by how versatile of a fragrance this is- the dusty florals, sandalwood, and tobacco blend very smoothly and remain nice even in warm early-fall weather. Even as we've dealt with a heat wave in St. Louis I've found it more than wearable. Starts off forceful, but quickly dries down into something cozy yet refined. I think I'll be depleting this bottle quickly.
The sine qua non for a sensitive young baller
Can a sensitive young man ever hope to ball out in this world? Yes, with Black Orchid by Tom Ford. I got this for Christmas two years ago and it's become my signature since, weather permitting. This is surprisingly versatile- I've used it when going out with friends, when at school, and on dates. The dirty dark floral accord was something I'd been looking for for a long time. Extremely unisex and could work for anyone who wants to convey an esoteric and refined impression. Don't wear during hot weather, though. Please don't.
