A breeze
Triggered by 'maritime notes' and 'Mediterranean Macchia', the clear, simple appearance of the beautiful bottle with the water-blue label and the wave-shaped font, which represents the playful waves of the sea (hach! *o*), the pretty box, which seems to be processed as if by spraying technique with sieve and toothbrush in the most delicate light blue nestled against white, which all together wonderfully symbolizes the maritime flair for me, I clicked ViMD long ago on the watch list.

From time to time I looked around on the website of the company Cosmesi Siciliana and thought disappointed, unattainable!
Nobody on Parfumo has it (or one of the others), blindly I did not want to order it, also not necessarily immediately the whole bottle
(50 ml cost 33 euros, shipping from Italy costs its proud just under 13 euros), trial samples are not offered.
Then I came the other day suddenly on the idea and have the fragrance simply entered in Google, and lo and behold, there is a shop in Brüggen, Marisco Naturkosmetik, with online shop, which among other things also offers the line Cosmesi Siciliana, and even trial samples of the fragrances!
2 ml at 3 euros. The shipping costs are generally stated at € 3.50, since I really wanted to test the fragrance, I accepted that and was surprised when Marisco suddenly transferred me back a part, because it was only a letter.
Such a fairness I find extremely pleasant, so I mention it here.
The items offered in the Cosmesi Siciliana line are minimally more expensive than on the Italian site.

On the homepage it is to be read:
Ventu 'i Mari is a cosmetics line that draws inspiration, power and strength from Sicilian nature. It carries with it the warmth of the sun and the scent of that wind that caresses and invigorates, blowing from the sea to the land in the coastal areas and softening the summer heat: a life-giving breeze that combines the scent of the iodized sea air with that of the coastal Mediterranean flora.
Ventu 'i Mari Donna is a vibrant fragrance full of emotion.
A refreshing breeze that rebalances body and mind.
Simple, like a regenerating walk by the sea.
All products of this fragrance are certified by ECO-Bio and AIAB.
Cosmesi Siciliana is a story of love and enthusiasm: love for Sicily and love for cosmetics.
The magic of Sicily, with its strong contrasts, bright colors and the highest biodiversity in the Mediterranean - captured in a cosmetic line.
This was the mission of various professionals.
Cosmetics for the body and soul, with a heart that beats for nature.

This all reads great and I can feel the air and scent of this land just reading it. I would have liked to find all this in the fragrance itself. Whereby he is not bad, even the headline is not meant negatively. Early in the morning or late in the evening, when the sun is not yet, or no longer, brooding on the pavement, the sky is watercolour and the air is soft and mild, a gentle breeze, that's what I find in the scent. When you have your first cappuccino on the breakfast terrace in the morning, or in the evening, fresh from your shower gel, you spoon up an ice cream in the beach bar... it blows a soft, velvety breeze and plays with the hair on the neck, caresses the skin on the face and arms, then ViMD fits.
Whiteflower (a hint of indole), slightly citrusy, slightly soapy, airy shower gel freshness with a creamy touch, a groomed fragrance.

But the most important thing is missing for me, the Mediterranean macchia. The Macchie (Ital. macchia, French maquis, means as much as thicket or bushes) is an evergreen, hard-leaved bush formation, 1 to 3 meters high shrubs and tree bushes that form a dense undergrowth. Typical species of this plant community include kermes oak, tree heath, western strawberry tree, rockrose, broom, crested lavender, rosemary, myrtle, mastic oleander, thyme, blackthorn, bayberry, and juniper. During the flowering period of many stand-forming plants from March to May, a particularly aromatic fragrance is emitted. Since ground flora is largely absent, the sun bakes stones. If you have ever walked in this landscape, you know the typical tangy, aromatic, sometimes ethereal scent of the plants, mixed with nectar from the flowers and that of the hot, parched ground. I was so hoping, nay, expecting to find all that in combination, otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered, the curiosity was so great, but it remains a very normal floral shower gel scent, a lukewarm breeze.
Who is looking for something like this, something straightforward fresh, regenerating, comes at his expense. For me, it was unfortunately disappointing.
I'm missing that certain something, the edge that makes a mistral out of the balmy breeze.

By the sea
The waves of the tide drag on whitecaps of lace.

The lagoon is like a transparent spoonful of turquoise acrylic, encased in an aureole of sand.

I contemplate the ocean tulle draped by the breeze

and run off, towards the white lace hem that smooths the beach

and puts my feet in chains,

let myself fall on the sand, and lie happily weary,

kissed by sea and sun,

caressed by the breeze that brings the floral scent of the island.

Pure holiday feeling, not only for the gentlemen!
And very, very sad that this great and unknown fragrance was discontinued!
My thanks to Hermessenz, which has still donated me such a generous filling!

Dune Treasure
The sunflower was ashamed to acknowledge the nameless flower as her kinswoman.
Then the sun rose, smiled kindly at the despised one, and asked:
"How are you, my darling?"
(Rabindranath Tagore)

Often the smallest, most inconspicuous flowers have the strongest fragrance and the sweetest nectar.
Somehow they have to attract attention. Whereby Pyrola - also dune wintergreen (Pyrola rotundifolia subsp. maritima - in the flower sex rather on insects as mainly flies.
Its appearance is similar to that of the lily of the valley.

Pyrola has an idiosyncratic scent, citrusy-sweet and green-spicy, with a sweet soft heart and a soapy veil. The scent reminds me somewhat of the herbal lemonade Almdudler.
The sillage is decent, but noticeable. Whereby the fragrance is much better outside in the fresh air and in cooler weather.
In any case, unisex and quite portable.

My thanks for the generous sample goes to Baeumchen :)

The breath of the Charybdis
The wide opening of the Globuli Cap of Mermaid (thank you very much at this point!) gives me the opportunity to get an impression of the green liquid already when opening the snap closure: piddled harbour basin. Rotten fish waste.
This is really bad

On the skin
My first thought: Someone should have told the little mermaid that she also gets a Mumu if she wishes to have legs.
My second thought: I don't know if fishy alone is the right expression, it has to be salty and algal, like an open oyster that has been washed through its life by seawater. Then I read that an unbelievable 240 l of seawater washes through a single oyster every day, and that nothing smells and tastes more like salty ocean than the queen of the mussels

I remember the legend of Scylla and Charybdis. Charybdis sucks in the sea water 3 times a day and then expels it again roaring. So she is the monster oyster of the ancient Greek mythology. The things that go through there during the day... no wonder Charybdis has bad breath and sweats from work

She sweats because cumin and coriander have been there from the beginning. Warm and cold notes combined, also a special feature of the fragrance. I have never smelled like this before. I can't help but think of Can's beautiful Kommi, the cold-blooded mermaid that embraces the warm body and takes it into the depths. That makes sense

Coriander, whose smell is not only reminiscent of aniseed or dill, but also resembles the exhalations of various types of bugs. The name coriander translates as bug dill. Anyone who has ever had a stink bug on their hand that "farted" in defence knows what I mean.

Cumin, whose scent is described as woody, spicy, warm, anise-like, but is very often also perceived as sweaty, and personally makes me always think of sweaty, warm armpits. Warm and spicy, human-fleshy, and at the same time dry and bitter. In the case of the sea angel only moderately sweaty.

Then something else came to my mind about the initial urine smell. Many years ago I went with a small group of work colleagues during the cool season once a week to swim in an indoor pool. Every week a different one in change. Once we were in a smaller one, and there I noticed a very unpleasant smell already at the beginning. The closer one came to the stairs, where the water also became lower, the worse the smell became. Chlorine and pee. Chlorine has actually hardly any own smell, only in combination with urea it becomes a chlorine compound with the typical acrid smell. The beginning of SC smells the same way. Especially out of the cap.

On skin, this fish-chlorine-algae note quickly turns into a medicinal note, oud (I have no experience with cypriol), infused with the ethereal scent of pine. Ginger plays a fruity and spicy role. From here on the fragrance becomes more pleasant, but recedes. Stays here for hours as a sweet, warm and spicy, dry and bitter skin-to-skin scent, as if you were lying in bed with your partner after a round of mattress tango, your head cuddled up in your armpit. The scent is very physical. Here the note fox fur/fur would also make sense. Whereby I rather think of ferrets (my sister had ferrets for years), which have a very typical smell, for me personally sometimes a bit too animalistically strict, dark animal musk (sweaty hairy armpits) and sometimes slightly urine like, because they mark each other, but at the same time sweet and wild. Ferret fans rave about the fact that their pets smell of mead or wild honey. That goes well, I recognize this smell here in a discreet form. And the scent of tuberose is also described as honey-like narcotic. Everything fits together. By the way, the base reminds me of Rubj from Vera Profumo.
I have not yet smelled a fox, I only know that foxes mark from the anal glands with a small yellowish drop, which can be smelled by fox and man up to 6 weeks. The intensive, bad smell is intensified by the effect of water.
Maybe a fox was milked for SC after all.

In between, Oud turns up the heat from time to time, in combination with the fruity ginger. Then the fragrance loses some warmth for this moment, becomes dry-metallic-fruity, only to gain spicy warmth again. Only after many hours does the spicy-warm disappear completely and the dry-metallic-fruity remains. (I like it best, I can't do with warm scents). In the aura you can only smell the fruity oud.
This now lasts not only for hours but for days, especially on clothes. Even today - 5 days later - the sleeve of my shirt and my cardigan still smell like dry-fruity delicate oud. Really great now even. Today on my arm... the skin... to adore! So many levels, so much change in this fragrance, is worth an 8 to me

The fragrance deserves the name Sea Censored. It's like a censored movie, hardcore porn or horror shocker. A warning.
If you ignore the warning and stick your nose in anyway, you may be shocked, but at least you will be surprised and learn something new.
In any case, he got too close to Charybdis.

Peat instead of turf
Dirtiest, earthiest (for me the hottest) patchouli with a dry-dusty-mineral note (like old cellar walls) and something spicier-tart and delicately sweet-aromatic in the background. Yes, the wet bird feathers are easy to understand. But for me it is a whole wet bird, breaded in bird sand.

Bird sand: quartz sand and shell grit; anise oil is added to keep the sand germ-free.
That would fit in very well here, and with Anis I've had it the last time. And I think I can see that

With time the patchouli becomes woody, with a subtle sweet-alcoholic note. Peaty recognized Floyd well, I almost didn't dare to write it (the commi was finished in its basic structure weeks ago) because you always ascribe a smoky note to peaty whiskey, but the smell is not smoky. But it smells like a big old wooden cask in which a single malt was maturing for years. Dark, woody, earthy, peaty, alcoholic, sweetish.

I cannot say with certainty whether the sweet-woody note is contributed by sandalwood or by amber, but I would tend towards amber, because, if you think of patchouli away from it, it's the same note as in "Embruns d'Ambre" by Stéphanie de Saint-Aignan, which I inhabit.

If there are any flowers in here, I'd say jasmine. For Jasmine I have a built-in Geiger counter and I think I can detect a hint, but maybe there are no flowers in it at all. It's all subjective interpretation and what do I know already.

Anyway, together with Karma from Lush (2nd place) this became my favourite patchouli (1st place). I can't get enough of it. Birdie stays for many hours and doesn't go through any great change, which is good for me. Only the protagonists keep pushing each other into the foreground. Sometimes it's more patchouli, sometimes more the sweet-woody alcoholic, then again more the dry mineral.

Gschpusi gave me a generous bottling (I thank you from the bottom of my heart!), I'll get by with that for a little while (until the bottle moves in), because you really need very little. 2 fine sprayers are sufficient and I smell myself all day long! The plastic pens spray too much, a single hit is enough. I changed it to a glass sprayer which mists finer.

Birdie is quite unusual! I think most people's noses are startled, but I love that one I also wear it at work, where the outfit rather than the location is more important. Dark colours and a more blatant outfit might go with the fragrance better than a pink flower dress, apron dress or Frankonia pleated skirt (Insider ;) ), but I can imagine it looking great with a stylish suit at any time of the day and on any occasion.
