what sex smells like
So I'm still virgin, unmarried but this thing is what I imagine sex woudl smell like.

What I get immediately upon spraying is a sharp, cooling patchouli blast. It smells somewhat medicinal. I say cooling because the coriander and cardamom add that airy feel to the scent and it lifts all the heavy notes from being too cloying, I personally don't get any birch or cedar, but I can tell that the prominent labdanum is covered with some wood.

I really think the star of the show is the labdanum, the note of prune is not mentioned but I ABSOLUTELY smell prune+labdanum. And that somewhat fresh-sweat-like, sweet-smelling labdanum is why I associate this scent with sex. I'd imagine being with a woman in sheets would smell like that.

if you ever smelled under my skin by Francesca Bianchi, this is like a less explicit and less sultry version of that. I'd say this is the male counterpart for under my skin (not that under my skin is feminine exclusive or anything) The leather note in 1740 is very subtle, nothing like Ombre leather or Fahrenheit, it's more of a supporting note for that labdanum IMO

I unfortunately decided not to keep it because as much as I love the scent, I can't really wear this highly artistic fragrance in the Midwest office environment, if you know what i mean LOL...

Why we need to support Dior Homme 2020
1st part" the scent itself

Loads of bergmot and a hint of pink pepper.
The Elimi Resin gives it a slight sweetness but it is far from a typical sweet scent.
The patchouli gives it a really expensive smell.
Some nuances from classics are here, it has a beautiful Hedione/Jasmine whaff like Eau Sauvage
Performance is VERY good, 2 sprays max otherwise you go olfactory fatigue within 30s
I've owned all 3 versions of Bleu de Chanel, to me, DH 2020 is just more bang for buck, unless you really dig the BDC DNA
Also, I would have given it a 10/10 scent score if it had a carnation note. To me, if a big dose of carnation is added this thing would be a perfect classy masculine (maybe not as modern in that case)

2nd part: why you need to stop trashing this

The main reason people are angry is that the iris is gone, so people think it's now a dumber-down version of the OG. No longer "unique" in the way that it makes us frag heads feel like high society people who have refined taste just because we are wearing something aesthetically feminine. (My guess is real high society men probably only wear Eau Sauvage/Pour Monsieur/or Whatever their wife buys them)

As a fraghead myself, I argue this: Most people who like the OG DH love the DHI as well. And since the 2020 version of DHI is freshened up. It's almost like somehow the OG DH and DHI are combined. Dior Homme Parfum is also in production, even though it's hard as heck to get here in the US. But DHI is still fairly accessible. To the folks who loved the OG DH, why don't you just go for DHI? Don't get me wrong I loved the OG DH as well but what is the reason to hate this new version?? It's not like Dior completely stopped the production of the OG DH. And you can still get your hands easily on DHI.

Also, here is my assumption. Chanel's big cash cows are BDC line, Allure Homme Sport line, and potentially Platinum Egoiste. Dior, however, has only one big cash cow=Sauvage line. They need something new and mass appealing to grow the business. Even though we fragheads adore other Dior masculines, I think most consumers can only stomach the Sauvage line. So I think it's a good move on Dior's part, they make more money, have more revenue to potentially pay Francois Demachy to invent more cool stuff. (I say this argument in assumption that both Dior and Chanel's primary cash source is NA and Asia market, and from my perspective, someone who lived in Asia before and now living in the USA, I know the general taste of people. NO way the OG DH can do well in Asia if it can't even thrive here)

Finally, I think it's too bad that Dior is owned by LVMH, I wish it has more independence. However, the fact that Dior still produces their artistic oldies like Fahrenheit and pumping out good privee offers give us a hope that Dior is still a fairly high-society fragrance brand.
Additionally, they supported Johnny in his time of distress, that's something I highly appreciate, so I don't mind buying myself a bottle of DH 2020 at all. It is pleasant and easy to wear, and a perfect replacement for BDC, which is just a bit too pricy at this point.

I enjoy and respect Dior as a fragrance house, and I support DH2020

Thank you for reading folks.

The Inspiration for Under My Skin??
So when i first sprayed this on, there was an immediate familiarity to it. I was puzzled as no one that I known of has ever worn this so .... strange...

Last year I acquired a perfume that was shocking to me, it's called under my skin by FB. Very dark juice. That was so sensual and musky that I simply found it unwearable. If you can pull it off, more power to you. I am at a stage where I only want to keep the frags I can confidently rock outside of my house. So I sold that masterpiece. It smells divine in many ways but I can't confidently wear it

When a friend gifted me this. I was so excited for it. I mean, it's one of the biggest names in perfumery right?

It's indeed beautiful.
If you don't like Chanel no 5, you may very well enjoy this. But if you hate 24 Fouberg, stay away from this as I sense some similarities.

What do I get from this?
Fluid-like musk, Spices, Nuances of peach and florals

I've heard this scent is supposed to smell melancholy, I don't get that at all (reviewing a 2015 batch)
This is definitely mature and requires an appreciation for artistic perfumery to pull off.

To compare this with Under My Skin:

Spiciness:
UMS is more spicy with more black pepper, I didn't detect any cumin in UMS so it's still not super BO like. But there is a sweatiness to UMS. Mitsouko share a lot of the same spices, majorly cloves and cinnamon to my nose. It's on the verge of sweatiness but not as much as UMS,

Muskiness:
Even though Mitsouko is not as spicy as UMS, the body fluid texture that the amber in Mitsouko gives off makes it just as sensual as UMS in my opinion. If you are big into animalics, you'd enjoy the current formulation of Mitsouko I think.

Floralness:
UMS=Orris centric
Mitsouko=Old school french jasmine+rose blend

In conclusion, this is an amazing perfume in terms of artistic value. I would never have had it if not for my friend who gifted it to me. My recommendation is:

If you are a man who comfortably wears No 5 EDP, 24 Fouberg, or other grand feminine perfumes without feeling self-conscious and people assuming stuff about you. GO FOR THIS ONE!!

If you are a woman who is confident, classical in nature. No matter the age, you'll enjoy this one. Although I'd recommend the EDT for summers.

I personally, at this moment, feel like I'd never wear this outside of my house LOL. In fact, I don't even wear it, I spray it on some object and just study the scent.

Don't blind buy this
So folks, here are some of my honest opinion on Ambre Nuit after testing it.
If you are into fragrances for a while, you probably had plenty experience with either complex designers or niche.

In my honest opinion, Ambre Nuit is not worth the price its charging.

Maybe it's just my personality or chemistry but this smells somewhat generic to me.

Opening is quite rosy, the rose note is absolutely backed up by real rose absolute, you can smell the fleshy and indolic nature of the rose. Then the ambergris come into the support.

To me, it smells more feminine than masculine. And yes I have tried and loved other colonges that are rose dominant. I really enjoy Antaeus and Egoiste, both are gorgeous. But this rose here is too pretty and realistic to communicate masculinity.

Regarding the ambergris in this, I do get a slight animalic touch to it (it has a bad breath smell, very slightly), but the amount used in this does not make this an ambergris dominant perfume.

I am so glad I sampled this, I was gonna just buy a 8.5oz bottle but this fragrance did not impress me at all.

Who do I think would like this??
Mature woman/ young ladies with mature personality
Guys who feel very comfortable wearing sugary fragrances such as DHI or AHSEE
Rose lovers
Artists who are very expressive and secure in themselves

The fragrance itself is really pleasant, and VERY high quality. But to me it is really not worth the price given its performance and also scent profile.

Hope that helps.
I guess I'm more of an American redneck so don't mind me.

Relaxing incense
I never bought a bottle but have quite a few big decants of this.
In all honesty, I think it is wearable. The overall scent profile is pleasant, smoky, bitter, and slightly citrusy and very resinous.

I never wore it out to work or anything because by the time I got the decant it was mid spring already. I think it's totally wearable for below 40 degree weather (I think if people smell this on you in cold weather they would really enjoy your presence as this is a warming cozy scent)

How I usually enjoy it is to spray it as a bed scent. Now you are like: blue beast for a bed scent?!?!

I find incense like fragrances to be very relaxing so it does help me feel calmed down before sleeping so... I put a few sprays on the floor carpet next to my bed, and it lasts a few days no problem LOL.

Who would I recommend this to?
see, I know many people may assume people who like interlude can't enjoy mass appeal scents. I love bleu de chanel but I also enjoy interlude.
I think overall, if you are at least somewhat a committed person who doesn't say words without meaning them, you would enjoy this. This is not a fun scent, it projects an image of a man who is grounded, secure, and powerfully masculine.

Please do not wear this on your first few dates
please do not wear more than 3 sprays of this
please do not wear this to an interview

LOL hope that helps. VERY nice fragrance for us incense/styrax lovers
