Tom Ford's Plum Japonaise has nothing to do with the common plum; that would be an insult to this fragrance.

Rather, the inspiration for this scent is the Ume fruit. The Ume fruit symbolizes spring in China and Japan.

I would like to note in advance that this fragrance reminds me of Serge Lutens' Fille en Aiguilles. It would be presumptuous to say that Ford had a copy mixed here.

However, connoisseurs will notice this similarity. My description will likely be subjective given this complex composition.

It is a successful composition with a warm character and a fruity-spicy base.

It is a very substantial yet fresh and fruity fragrance.

A precisely balanced combination of noble resins gives it a subtle spiciness.

With the ingredients that harmonize very well together, there is an impression that this fragrance constantly evolves and has its own mood.

It transitions from spicy notes and light oud to fruity-floral notes, but always accompanied by incense and amber.

A fragrance that is recommendable and, for me, a successful work.

After the scent development, one can already tell that this fragrance has its own personality and only reminds one of Fille en Aiguilles right after application!

When I first applied Parfums de Nicolai Eau Soleil, I was very surprised. My expectation of a walk in an orange grove, surrounded by fragrant orange blossoms and the fresh green of the leaves was not met.

Instead, my skin experienced a peppery and bitter guest appearance!
Disappointed? Not at all... on the contrary!

A good perfume should spark curiosity, ignite the imagination, it should possess a special ability.

To catch myself all day long smelling my wrist, perceiving the herb garden. To close my eyes for a while and feel the silk scarf with white flowers and soft musk on my skin.
That is the ability of Eau Soleil!

There is also a hint of nostalgia for soda, unsweetened citrus fruits, and herbs from Provence. The bitterness at the beginning transforms into ylang-ylang and jasmine with a very balanced blend. It smells of dried grasses and leaves, with an occasional shimmer of soft and white petals.

Neroli, steam-distilled orange blossoms, green and herbaceous, more like unopened buds than nectar-filled flowers.

A tropical flower, showered with ylang-ylang, chewing gum with apricot jam and green bananas.... it fills Eau Soleil with a distinctive sweetness.

Not far from there, patchouli, earthy and damp!

At the end of the performance, the scent slowly and softly bids farewell with musk and cedar. Immediately followed by applause from floral notes and musk
soft and clear with good sillage on sun-warmed skin.

Not my favorite scent but it deserves recognition, it is fresh and pleasant for everyday wear.
