fresh woody journey

On me, this seems to be a collage of other naturalistic perfumes I've known and loved. Starts as delicate, pretty lily/sweetpea. (Similar to Fresh Index Pink Jasmine, but less fruity.) Then, waterlily predominates w/a hint of sharp birch (similar to Lise Watier Capteur des Reves). Dries down w/ some peppery wood (similar to Andree Putman Preparation Parfumee). Enough wood to have some gravitas. A pleasant scent journey! (061409)

Wonderful! I found about 20 ml of this fragrance (used, in the original Monolith 100 ml bottle) for 2 euros at a flea market. And I am consistently pleasantly surprised by "Annayake pour Elle". It smells wonderfully fresh and resinous with a strong cypress note. The flowers in the heart of the perfume transport me to a spring morning at Fuji. (I once saw a film with Fritz Wepper and a Japanese girl, where the two formed a friendship). Beautiful landscape images were shown in it. A large lake, from whose shore one can gaze at Fujiama. Pine forests all around. In the base of the fragrance, but also already latent beforehand, this landscape has been translated into olfactory images in "Annayake pour Elle". And it lasts with me for many hours (sprayed in the morning, you can reapply at noon, and it lasts until the evening). Good, but not overwhelming sillage. I don’t know any other fragrance that resembles it. And: I can smell the natural origin of the ingredients. Nothing in this Eau de Parfum smells "artificial" or synthetic. Its uniqueness may not appeal to every nose, but it impresses me with its ability to transport me to a forest by the lake near Fujiama, allowing me to enjoy it.

Class Reunion

Recently at the class reunion. Oh, how long it had been since we last saw each other!
I ended up sitting next to a very tall, very attractive, and also very elegant gentleman. A long, scrutinizing look from my side. Could it be my small, slender Tom - the ever-energetic class clown?
His hearty laughter gave him away - it was him! Great joy! We talked about this and that, and also about our hobbies. I outed myself as a perfume enthusiast, and he could also contribute quite a bit to this topic. By the way, he asked me if I knew Pour Elle by Annayake? Unfortunately, no. We spent a pleasant evening together.
The next morning, I discovered a bag on my doorknob, and it contained: Pour Elle with warm regards from Tom. Surprised, I sprayed it, and was immediately enchanted by the delicate veil of bergamot, fig, and cypress that enveloped me.
Very noble and a bit exotic. After a while, subtle freesia, lily of the valley, and sage joined in. I was absolutely taken.
Woods and musk formed a brilliant finish.
My astonishment gave way to admiration for his good taste and for his
accurate assessment of my character.
We obviously still felt close to each other.
Of course, a fragrance package followed for him, and we have kept in touch.
Old love never rusts.

Dixie Toilet Next to Pond with Water Lily Infestation

An internal best-seller at Douglas. Okay, that doesn't exactly speak for the fragrance among the unfortunately uninformed audience there. But the good ratings here are more telling. I was all the more curious when my grandma gave me a sample of this scent, as she likes fresh fragrances, knows that I am interested in the topic, and received this scent as a sample at Douglas. I had no high expectations, which can be a tremendous surprise factor and advantage for a good fragrance. But Pour Elle fell significantly short of those expectations.

Watery, green, delicate, artificial, slightly fruity. A pond full of flowers floating on it. Or one of those wooden barrels with roses and lily of the valley on top. Unfortunately, the plastic grass, the stagnant water, and the Dixie toilet next to it ruin the otherwise beautiful scent picture. If at all, it might be suitable for sporty hours with younger girls. Still, even with little effort, better options should be easy to find.

Bottle: these are simple and adapted to the Asian theme.
Sillage: still pond water and the Dixie toilet is well cleaned.
Longevity: for a shallow floral water scent, a surprisingly persistent 6-7 hours.

Represents for me a lot of what goes wrong in almost all Douglas stores and is, for me, an below-average perfume. So far, I haven't smelled a good Annayake.

Seagulls, Spring Flowers, and Cigarette Smoke

To get straight to the point: I consider Pour Elle to be an unrecognized masterpiece from the turn of the millennium. The last 20 years have brought much good and beautiful things to the perfume market. But this initially unassuming fragrance is one of the most complex and delicate compositions of its time.

One might even retrospectively consider "Annayaké" to be a precursor to "Coco Mademoiselle" after the first impression. Here, lily of the valley and rose complement each other with an extremely artificial, sweet fruity note (strawberries and melon?) to create a youthful girl’s fragrance - with style. What a delightful poetic note, underscored by fine cedar and sandalwood!

So far, "Pour Elle" has already secured its 80 to 90 rubber points. But now the poetry comes into play that transforms the young lady into a strong personality. The lovely heart note is melancholically broken by an aquatic "Marine" accord (algae and ozone) as well as a bitter-herb nuance of cigarette smoke. This gives the overall composition its nervous, poetic aura and loses its innocence.

Conclusion: This stroke of genius bridges the cool, "lean" 1990s and the spirit of renewal of the new millennium. The restless fragrance oscillates somewhere between delicate and neurotic and suits rather young women who have not yet "arrived," but want to conquer the world, while uniting elegance, charm, and intellect. (Prime example: Ally McBeal)
