What happened?
Loved this at first- delicious fresh rhubarb and citrus.
Loved it so much I was going to buy a couple more bottles… but so glad I didn’t as a year later it’s absolutely disgusting.
Been kept in a cool dark place in its packaging etc but it’s gone rancid and I’ve even got others to check in case it’s my nose but they all agree- this is now a disgusting scent
My favourite Oud with its citrus kick
I’m a fan of Jo Loves Pomelo but was initially wary of this as so many overspray oud perfumes and it can be an overdose of wood & smoke but once tried it grew on me within minutes.
It starts with the stunning pomelo and then quickly dries down into a dry oud with lots of wood without being too overwhelming (but definitely don’t overspray!).
I usually spray at the start of the day and it lasts all day but the pomelo disappears within 1-2 hours so I carry a travel pomelo with me to give me that fresh kick again if I want it (but that’s just me)
An example of why you should never blind buy
(I tried this before seeing the other reviews but I guess it’s clear the effect this has on multiple people).
On paper this sounded perfect for me with neroli, bergamot & bitter orange all being favourites of mine so I was eager to try it and got hold of a sample (thank god it was only a sample and I didn’t buy anything bigger).
Almost instantly after spraying (just 2 sprays, 1 on each wrist) I knew I’d made an error as the artificial cleaning product style smell hit. Then came the headache.
I persevered, I truly did, as I assumed it had to get better. Surely there’s no way this could get through product production when it smells like this?
Sadly, though it changed, it never got better- instead I started to smell less like surface cleaner and more like a chemical-full plug-in wall air freshener and in the worst way possible.
2 hours in (I told you I persevered) up-close on my wrist there’s a hint of something nice, but all around me there was a cloud of air freshener style artificiality that this strongly throws out and I not only had to scrub my wrists to get it off, but change my clothes as the cloud had permeated.
Having tried hundreds of perfumes over the years, and not liked many of them, this is the only one which has had that effect on me so I guess it wins the award for ‘most likely to make me want to remove it’s existence completely from my life’.
