Spring 24 Ffern 2024

Loved this at first- delicious fresh rhubarb and citrus.
Loved it so much I was going to buy a couple more bottles… but so glad I didn’t as a year later it’s absolutely disgusting.
Been kept in a cool dark place in its packaging etc but it’s gone rancid and I’ve even got others to check in case it’s my nose but they all agree- this is now a disgusting scent

This is a trip through an exotic herb and spice store. On my skin, the basil is prominent - green, spicy, medicinal, metallic; then there's a plethora of citrus zest - some sweet, some tart, yellow orange and green; Sichuan pepper and ginger for a spicy Eastern zing; and in the background a vase of daffodils which have a bit of spice to themselves, as well as enchanting neroli and the majesty of cedar

If you've been subscribing to Ffern for a few years, you will soon realise that their offerings don't differ very much from year to year. Spring 24 is actually extremely similar to Summer 23, with the prominent grapefruit. This is not novel for them at all. And the reference to rhubarb is quite misleading as this is more of a citrusy perfume rather than anything more tart or sweet.

In my opinion, Spring 23 was the best variant of the citruses because it was most zesty. I stopped subscribing to Ffern due to the lack of novelty in their variations, and since I use up the perfumes sparingly over time. Also, they started using patchouli as a base note in Fall 23 and I don't like how that note dirties up fragrances. I will stick to citruses that are clean and zesty with only slight smokiness from hay, and buy their Spring or Summer bottles from Ebay when I've used up the 3 bottles I have.

This stands out from other spring scents. A lot of spring scents are light florals and greens, using delicate notes like violets and mint. This scent is a realistic scent of rhubarb and pepper. Its tart, little bit sweet, earthy, and spicy. Almost as if it was just taken from the garden. Its a light scent but not delicate. Citrus but not summery and the citrus notes in this stick around for hours, unheard of in other citrus scents. The scent becomes more woody and floral over time and the dry down is mainly woody with a hint of that citrus from the beginning. The scent lasted 5 hours on my skin and the projection was strong enough that my co-workers complimented me several times. Its $129 for 32ml, for something this unique and strong, I think its worth it. This bottle was a great way to introduce me to the brand.
