Apex of freshness
Sedley by Parfums de Marly is a fresh aromatic woody fragrance with light fougere accords
A fragrance that at first smell seems as simple as its name. Another blue fragrance that is slightly pleasing and rattles off all the fragrance notes of the evergreen DNA palette, you might think.
But no, Sedley is a fragrance with very little depth, but that is what gives it its depth. An opening that is second to none. The mint paired with the citrus cocktail, which is by no means overloaded or toilet-like, but rather cool and elegant, and the first chords of what is yet to come. As the fragrance progresses, Sedley comes up trumps with spice and depth. The combination of incense, lavender, rosemary and the usual suspects in the base create the necessary something that makes Sedley the King of Freshies. The bottle is also well chosen: blue glass which could be refreshing ice or rather the refreshing blue water with infinite depth and elegance. No matter how you interpret it, it knows how to deal with both interpretations and how to incorporate them into the fragrance profile. It's not for nothing that I deliberately call it APEX of freshness.
Sedley does so much right although he doesn't do much differently.
But it doesn't have to, sometimes Play it Simple is enough.
Sedley is a fragrance that gives me the feeling of being a swashbuckling swashbuckler who allows himself the odd allure but still looks professional. A fragrance that never offends and simply knows how to beguile. I get a confidence boost just by smelling it.
In short, Sedley is a solid release and a fragrance that knows how to convince with its qualities.
There is hardly a better fresh fragrance, it is also worth the money. Longevity good, sillage moderate, but it could also be that I quickly become scent-blind.
