Love on Trial
It was on a warm spring day in Seoul when Starry Nights and I first met. A young woman walking several meters ahead of me was wearing this fragrance. Every time a gust of wind tousled her hair, I was completely blown away. It smelled sweet, fresh, and luxurious... and had something magical about it. A unisex scent that turned my head. It was love at first sniff, and I convinced myself that our meeting was fate. I couldn't help but approach the woman.
Back in Germany, I bought the perfume without smelling it again first. That was probably my mistake. I was too naive, wearing rose-colored glasses. The scent suddenly unfolded completely differently on my skin than I remembered. It smelled much more masculine all of a sudden, and also very sour. The fragrance felt heavy and immediately became unpleasant in my nose. I couldn't explain it. How had I been so mistaken about it? After a few hours, it became a bit softer, sweeter, and more feminine - completely different from right after spraying it.
All in all, it's not a bad scent, but it should be approached with caution. I don't wear this Montale like ordinary perfumes, because this is not a fragrance you want to constantly have in your nose. It's too strong, too heavy - almost numbing to the senses. However, if you apply it to the nape of your neck or put a small spritz in your hair - then Starry Nights unfolds into something beautiful and undoubtedly unique.
