Italia, mon amour
Well, what to say... I've come upon a miniature online and bought it. Beautiful bottle intrigued my imagination for quite some time and I was wondering is it justified to buy a full bottle of this snow-globe like, magically packaged fragrance.
I must open with a disclaimer: I'm not sure in what state is my mini, I bought it over eBay. That being said, here goes my impressions of Souvenir d'Italie .
Strong alcoholic opening, quickly settles down. Top notes are deep and fruity without being gourmand or sweet or edible, but very fleeting. They last only couple of whiffs to take and enjoy. (Maybe that's because my mini is a bit old and top notes are disintegrated a bit?) After just a couple of minutes, I enter into what's this perfume is really about - wonderful cardamom that gives it a smoky (I often perceive woody and spicy notes as smoky), warm and spicy note.
In this phase, it's really wonderful, charming, mature and sexy fragrance, office friendly, wearable any time of the year, but maybe better in colder days or evenings.
It's nicely blended, nothing "pops out" as unbalanced or screechy. White flowers an wisteria give it a luscious quality but only as a "second violin" to the cardamom. It never gets sweet, it's mostly fruity (but for a very short time) and then wonderfully woody and warm spicy. (Just like Jessica Simpsons Fancy love, I get this sexy smokiness - like a dusky sunset after a really hot summer day...Maybe I'm crazy.)
Longevity? Well, not a bombastic one. It won't last more than 3-4 hours (at least a splash version), so you'll need to reapply throughout the day. It's not loud either, it stays close to the body, but once again, I've tested only splash (no sprayer).
Nevertheless, really beautiful fragrance from the beginning of the century. For me, definitely full bottle worthy, even on "discontinued fragrance" prices.

Strawberry, all day long
Sweet, candy sweet from the start. You can't miss strawberry candy, but it's not saccharine or thick fragrance, i guess thanks to the fruity top notes. Drydown is nice, warm and much more cozy, vanilla and more strawberry, milky strawberry. On my skin, this fragrance is eternal. I applied it around 8 am and can smell it still around 10 pm. And that's just one spritz on each arm. Last phase it's mostly vanilla musk. You get a real performer for the price, but you need to love strawberry in a scent.

Sexy and fresh caramel
Great fragrance! It really surprised me with it's airy, buttery and floral feel.

Don't be fooled by it's name - it's not sticky, toffee and sugary perfume! Instead, it's alluring, sexy and mature (not "grandma style" mature), really lovely and wearable, any time of the year. Almond milk makes it buttery and milky, and flowers give it a nice dose of freshness. Patchouli and sandalwood ground it nicely in an earthy, woodsy base giving it some depth, even a touch of masculinity (when I inhale deep, deep in my lungs).

For this price, really full bottle worthy (which is not so attractive to me, but rarely can you have it al)... :-D I really like it!

That'll do Buontalenti, that'll do...
I adore Italian perfumery, as a general. Roccobarocco, Ungaro, Krizia and Trussardi from the beginning of this century (and until 2015th-ish), and Italian gourmands (contemporary). You know that feeling when you're not trying much but you still get that effect of elegance, chic and fashionable? I find this in Italian perfumes. Bountalenti is not an exception - pleasant, airy and never too much, it's an interpretation of notes you find in it's description, not a literal presentation.
From the start, Buontalenti forms airy, sweet (but not cloying or syrupy) and "cold" cloud around you. The top of this coppa gelato smells like interpretation of albicocca, peach and banana ice-cream. It's creamy, lactonic and very enjoyable.
Fruity aspect is presentable in this phase, but not literal fruit - just it's gelateria interpretation. Like when they open the metal can full of fresh and perfectly cooled gelato in front of you and you can smell that cool mist rising.
Next phase is more lactonic, vanilla, caramel and toffee-like. It's not a loud and dominant fragrance, it's like your skin soaked up all the wonderful fragrances from top-notch gelateria after a shift working there or sitting on a small metal shabby chic table all day, just watching people go by.
Every time I spray this on (as well as Matilda), I think to myself: "If this would be my one and only perfume, I would be satisfied." Of course, I always keep testing and buying other fragrances, but if I had to choose which perfumes to bring to and isolated island with me, it would be my Profumo di Firenze collection (and Trussardi Skin).
I reach for Buontalenti when I'm in a hurry and don't have much time to think what to wear and how to pair fragrance with my clothing and mood. And I don't regret it, ever.
Bottle is unpretentious, sprayer excellent, price affordable, fragrance unoffensive and quiet enough. It's like your second skin, but sweeter. And I'll take that anytime, talking to my bottle of PdF: "That'll do you beauty, that'll do..."

Long forgotten treasure
I completely forgot about this perfume until a couple of months ago. Dear friend gave it to me when we were on university, along with some other Oriflame and Avon perfumes. Years passed, I left it in my parent house only to rediscover it awhile ago, sitting and waiting beside vintage Oscar and Oh! de Moschino. And how glad am I to once again meet my old friend!

Dare to dream is a moss bomb, but in the best possible way. It's watery, flowery but not tropical to me. I detect no fruits, maybe just refreshing melon, giving it an aquatic feel, together with cyclamen. Many people say this perfume suffocates them, I guess I understand why, but this sharp, bold character is refined with aquatic and mossy touch. I would disagree with those calling it a tropical, yellow fragrance. To me, color of the bottle fits perfectly. It's transparent although piercing, it's watery although flowery, it's woody and mossy. Perfect spring scent!

Longevity is amazing, I can feel it throughout the day on me. Considering it's an edt - fabulous. Bottle is beautiful, but my sprayer got defected with time - it fell off. But I still manage to spray it, somehow. :) I'm currently planning to buy a back-up bottle because I plan to always have it in my collection. It reminds me on my friend, when we where younger and i tend to pick it up often during the spring to lift me up and envelop me in it's mossy veil.

Big like from me.
