A run-of-the-mill scent...?
Diesel fragrances always have something special, even unique, which doesn't always resonate well with everyone. Generally, I've been quite okay with them, but there have been one or two scents that I had to really think about. D by Diesel was more of an emotional rollercoaster for me. On one hand, I found it a bit too piercing and synthetic, but on the other hand, it was somehow interesting and unique. In any case, it's not your everyday generic scent like Sauvage or 1 Million. At least, that's what I thought at its release!? As a travel enthusiast, I've been to various countries in recent years, and no fragrance has encountered me in public as often as this one. Whether in New York, Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, Niagara Falls, Venice, Lake Garda, or most recently even at the Polish Baltic Sea, it seems to have an extremely high level of recognition and apparently enjoys many fans internationally!? But even in cities here in Germany or at one party or another, you can often smell it. I think it has an extremely high recognition value. You always perceive it very well, especially the powdery lavender - vanilla note stands out here. There's something else in the background that I can't attribute to any of the notes listed here? Regarding the sillage, which is very similar to a Dior Sauvage Edt, I suspect alongside the cotton accord a good dose of Ambroxan!? So, I'm actually surprised how it gets a H+S of under 7. But the test strip, which you smell for 1 minute in the perfumery, is the reference for some here. I tested it back at its release and can say that it really lasts well and projects. Whether you like it or not is, of course, always a matter of taste. Overall, Diesel has created a fairly solid fragrance here that enjoys great popularity far beyond this forum.

This is me
It was last year in October when I decided to go out on a sunny golden autumn day and buy my first niche fragrance. The thought of discovering a scent that best highlights my personality was my goal that day. Upon arriving at my trusted perfumery, the nice and extremely attractive lady there dedicated herself to my needs and advised me very professionally. After a brief profile about me, what I like, what I don't like, and what I usually wear, we dove right into Creed and Co... One glass stick after another, I sniffed my way through the collections offered to me with excitement and curiosity. Things got really interesting when she introduced me to the fragrances from MFK. I sniffed my way through Baccarat Rouge, Masculin Pluriel, and Gentle Fluidity Silver, until I reached the scent that would captivate me, Amyris Homme. Man... was I perhaps blown away by this little potion, and so the decision came relatively easy for me, and I told the nice lady: "That's it, that's me." So, the little fragrance was wrapped up, paid for, and I left the store overjoyed. Since then, I am constantly approached about the scent when I wear it and literally showered with compliments. Even while shopping, I occasionally notice people sniffing and following me, and when I turn around, they smile at me in a certain way. So, I guess I did everything right... :)

Describing Amyris Homme is actually not that easy, as the listed fragrance notes are so complexly intertwined that I find it difficult to separate them precisely. Nevertheless, I don't want to miss the chance to convey my impression of the scent. However, I can say one thing upfront: Amyris Homme has a note that closely resembles my skin scent. Amyris starts fresh, fruity, woody, but also sweet, and it doesn't really develop significantly in another direction. It is a fragrance that, while very multifaceted, remains linear in its progression. The initial freshness does fade after a few hours, but overall, it doesn't drift off in another direction. This fragrance has some ingredient that closely resembles my skin scent!? Unfortunately, I don't know what it could be, whether it comes from the Amyris itself or a molecule; in any case, it is exactly what connects us. I would describe this note like this... Maybe you know this skin scent from your own experience? When you've been outside for a long time on a cold and windy day, and the wind was really fresh, and then you come home and can smell that wind freshness on your skin. That's the scent I somehow also perceive in Amyris. I would describe this smell as fresh, herbaceous, and somehow sweetish.

The longevity and projection, I would classify as good on me. With 4 sprays under the ears, it easily lasts 8 hours and projects decently for half the time, until it quiets down and finally becomes skin-close.

Amyris Homme is an absolute dream fragrance for me, which I will probably keep in my collection for a long time. It not only gives me positive vibes but also wraps me in a sense of security and conveys the feeling that it simply belongs to me. Thank you, Mr. Kurkdjian, for this little masterpiece.

Places of Longing and the Scent of Freedom
We all long for freedom and the urge to explore the world. In doing so, we often find a place that captivates us from the very first moment and doesn’t let go. We feel secure, at home, and as part of what surrounds us. The lightness of being in an environment that we perceive and absorb with all our senses conveys a feeling of pure joy and relaxation. That’s how I feel when I visit the small Ionian island of Zakynthos. It’s as if you are coming home. Beautiful landscapes, the vast sea, and somehow it seems like there’s a magic in the air. I associate such places with scents like this one.

Poure Homme is beautifully light and perfectly embodies the Mediterranean flair for me. The scent itself opens with a wonderful citrus-lavender combination that also brings a certain stiffness and gently settles on the skin. It quite clearly reminds me of classic fougère fragrances that start with such combinations. Once the initial impression fades, the scent shifts into a rather woody, yet fresh and soft combination with a lovely depth. Towards the end, it becomes increasingly woody, but also slightly sweet and remains close to the skin for a good 6-7 hours.

In conclusion, it should be noted that D&G has beautifully reworked a classic here that captivated me from the very first moment. I associate it with my place of longing and the feeling of lightness and freedom. It’s wonderful that you exist.

A Masterpiece for Eternity.
Ah Acqua di Gio... What have I experienced with you. I think a book would just about suffice. For almost 20 years you have been a companion that I can't shake off. No matter where I smell you, whether on myself or on others, your magic remains unbroken. It is clear that you are the quintessential mainstream fragrance, but I don't care, because the memories connect us forever. But what fascinates me so much about you, aside from the experiences... Well, it is simply your fresh elegance that captivated me from the very first moment of our encounter. You don't hit hard, excuse my expression, you don't make a fuss and convince through your simplicity and understated presence. I associate you with a summer day in Cinque Terre in Italy. The sun makes the wine grow on the hills while I lie under a lemon tree, enjoying a wonderful view of the picturesque colorful bay of Cinque Terre. The sea breeze gently mingles with the scent of lemons and brings me to a state of absolute relaxation. I feel liberated, arrived, and refreshed. Even though you have lost some of your longevity over the years, the moment of your presence is still a dream that lasts for me for 6 wonderful hours. You will always belong to me, because if I had to describe you in one word, it would be fascination.

Fragrance + Music = Imagination On and Eyes Closed.....
Hello dear perfume lovers...

Those of you who have been following me for a while know that I have been a DJ for almost 20 years and I like to associate scents with certain sounds or tracks. For those who don't know, I refer you to my review of Acqua Di Gio Profumo. Anyway, it has happened again, and I’m taking you on a short, fragrant, and musical fantasy journey that I experience with Guerlain Homme.

Guerlain Homme is a fragrance that grabbed me from the very first moment and took me along. Its uncomplicated freshness and deep-woody aura are simply breathtaking and exude lightness and carefreeness. I have rarely smelled such a wonderful and finely woven mint in a fragrance. When I apply this scent and smell it, something quite peculiar happens within me. I feel not only refreshed but also light, energized, and above all, in a certain way, special. As if nothing is impossible anymore and there are no limits... No negative thoughts and a feeling of security surround me. So, it’s a kind of motivator to spray on. When I then put on my headphones and listen to Dusky - Mr. Man, it’s all over for me, and the imagination starts running...

Lights, camera, action...

It’s August...
I’m sitting with friends in a convertible, and we’re driving towards the sunset. Passing by meadows, fields, and small villages, we drive aimlessly after the sun. The evening sun rays still gently warm our skin, and the wind blows softly over our heads. The sky is painted in warm colors of blue, yellow, orange, and red, the road belongs to us... On the radio, Mr. Man is playing, a track that is very minimalist and creates a wonderful atmosphere with its reduced surfaces. The piano, starting from the middle, not only gives it a timeless classic vibe but also an emotional line. It gives us a feeling of zest for life and security, just like the fragrance itself that accompanies me. Wonderful... :)

Guerlain Homme moves just like the track on a rather reduced level and remains linear in its scent progression, but incredibly beautiful, clean, deep, and harmonious. It thrives on its minimalism and creates a very nice depth for me. Especially the finesse with which it is tuned makes it a true dream fragrance that invites you to dream. Longevity and sillage are good but not beast mode, and the scent lasts about 8 hours with medium projection. It doesn’t want to be a loudmouth, and that’s a good thing. For me, this Guerlain is the discovery of the year and is well on its way to becoming my new signature scent. How do you like it, and what do you associate with the fragrance?

Thank you for reading.

Micha :)
