A fragrance like a DSDS starlet!
I would like to say in advance that I am an absolute advocate of designer fragrances and have expressly forbidden my nose to become arrogant. But it is now unfortunately so, if you have looked deep into the niche, must capture a designer fragrances already massive.

Spoiler: Myslf has not managed to do that. Let me order my thoughts on this.

Yves Saint Laurent is a house number. And L'Oréal would be very stupid, of course, if the this image of the brand would not use.

With Myslf, however, I must immediately think of a casting show. One could think here that an "egg-laying Wollmilchsau" should be marketed. There were many perfumers in the recall. A true race they have delivered, without question.

There was certainly the brave, which has recognized that the Parfumbubble now knows what happens in the niche so, could not be sold because of its corners and edges "mega"...

He did not get into the second Recall......

There was certainly the beautiful, who has talent and you constantly ask yourself - Why do you do at "Germany seeks the super perfume" with? Too valuable ingredients, too expensive to produce for nen Maßenmarkt....

Not in the second Recall.

There was certainly the rebel, a guy who hits the table and asserts himself. But no, that did not fit with the jury boss at L'Oréal - you want something that sells "hammermäßig" well and pleases the masses. A fragrance that appeals to teens just as financially, potent men!

Not in the second Recall.

Won then 08/15. a talent, what is so interchangeable, as well as every winner of DSDS. A talent, what one / two years performs well and nourishes the brand - until in the best case to the follow-up "Le Parfum" Flanker, or even the setting. The fragrance works solidly on sillage and longevity and is perfectly tailored for the average man in his early 30's. Perfect for his everyday 9- 17 job at the office. He is pleasantly perceived without being annoying - but then also after the finished meeting in the stuffy conference room to be forgotten again.

A talent that is incredibly photogenic, but whose hit you have forgotten in 6 months. Exactly that is all Myslf ! It is interchangeable! It could be composed by Dieter Bohlen. It is not something that can and should stay. No, it is supposed to create exactly one season quota, only to be replaced again. Le Parfum, Elixir, whatever...

One did not have the goal to produce a milestone. The goal here is to pleasen the crowd. And that will / does the fragrance. For this he is too pleasing and Mr. Mustermann can say that he owns a WHOLE new fragrance. How should he know better?

This shower gel bergamot, wood and ambrox chords number we had felt 1000 times - yet Myslf will be bought. This has already worked with "Brother Louie" and "Atlantis is calling" - why not here?

Will it sell? Not for long - but a lot in a short time! But that's not bad, because when the new talent is burning up - already starts the next season.

I think my maxi CD of "Take me tonight" by Alexander I got rid of in 2005 at a flea market for 50 cents.

With Myslf it would really go with the devil, if I could still remember his name in 6 months.

No - he has not come to stay. But - everyone at L'Oréal already knows that and the castings for the next season have already started...

Poor "Superstar"....

It’s getting hate ATM…
… so that means people are going to LOVE it in 9 months .

All kidding aside, my wife thinks it smells great, and a lot of women I come in contact with say the same thing. They really like it.

Personally, when I first sprayed it, I was worried that it was leaning too feminine. The orange blossom makes itself present , and you WILL feel the flowery vibe it gives. It also seems that it’s a light, low projection/low sillage scent, but as I walked around, I kept getting “phantom wafts” of it; it’s easy to go nose blind to it, but it isn’t as bad as you think. Also, when I went outside into higher temps, it got MUCH louder.

My initial thoughts were a dislike, but I got more and more addicted to it as time passed. I couldn’t stop smelling my wrist.

I went home without buying it, and woke up to still smell the SINGLE SPRAY on my wrist. I immediately went back and bought a bottle.

Projection is difficult, as I said above I was nose blind, but sillage IS there, as is the longevity.

Not for everyone, but it’s hated more than it deserves to be.

So extraordinarily meh
Wow!

This fragrance is extraordinary

I’ll keep this as brief as I can as I do not want to make out that I have some very heavy opinions about this fragrance. It just reminded me of something very common about these mass appealing fragrances.

In the UK in the 90s there was a very generic sitcom; the premise was the central characters are three childhood friends: a traumatised fantasist agoraphobe Matthew (Ben Chaplin in the first series who I think worked well as the agoraphobe, who used to be ‘a bit of a lad’ then Neil Stuke took over in the second season and was a great bit of casting as the traumatised fantasist), a tragic accidental man-eater Mandy (Samantha Womack) and the typical wimpish Martin (Matthew Cottle). In their twenties, the trio flatshare in London, which Matthew bought with his inheritance, and the series follows their lives and love lives.

Fairly standard 90s sitcom fare. The thing that I wanted to use to relate to this fragrance was the music chosen for the theme tune: ‘Where I find my Heaven’ by The Gigolo Aunts. The song is so fucking 90s, I mean if you were to go to Spotify and search this song up within the first 8 seconds you would know this song was written and released in the 90s.

Like that song this new fragrance from YSL is soo generic. It’s like the marketing branch of YSL said we need a new fragrance release to fill the gap between the end of summer and Christmas, nothing too outrageous nothing innovative.

It has to appeal to some man. And voilà

The result?

This fragrance is extraordinary

This fragrance captures exactly the demographic of ‘a man’

This fragrance brings up the image of ‘a man’.

I’ll help you picture this man. He’s male, how old is he? Yes. Hair colour? He has that. Or probably maybe possibly not. Clothes? He wears clothes and eats food that has either been prepared or not but edible. He likes doing things and dislikes doing other things, he has political opinions that are political. Does he get around? By foot or transport, you betcha. This man has stuff in a place where he lives that’s located where others live.

I do not have any interest in finding out who they have chosen to utilise to be the face of this scent, as it doesn’t matter. I cannot think of a celebrity of any level who have the prerequisite nothingness of personality or character.

This stuff is disturbingly bland and extraordinarily ordinary. Like the song ‘Where I find my heaven’ this fragrance is so alarmingly mass appealing that I would bet that if you haven’t smelt it you would be able to guess what this fragrance smells like.

If you like fragrances that others might say are ‘basic’, you will like this. Not a bad thing. But this will not blow your socks off.

Standard fragrance with questionable raison d'être
With the name "MYSLF" I was very excited. I thought of a fragrance that makes a real statement, is uncompromisingly authentic and accepts criticism to be as individual as possible - the fragrance unfortunately does exactly the opposite.
The opening is extremely generic, citrusy fresh. Smells very pleasant, but does not fit at all to the rest of the course - but after five minutes of it is anyway nothing more perceptible.
The longest time MYSLF is a white-floral modern fragrance with a woody base. A large portion of ambroxan ensures that the fragrance lands here directly in a drawer with Sauvage, the Y series and Co.
With a focus on floral notes, it is certainly not entirely unoriginal within this category, but in my eyes even more inoffensive and generic than its competitors.
Because of its weak personality, I find this fragrance to be absolutely gender neutral - like a room fragrance for example.
The woody notes get stronger and stronger compared to the floral notes until the fragrance fades out after about 8 hours.
The fragrance does not smell bad, but in my eyes it has no right to exist - especially not for the price with which it is traded.

Nothing New
Myslf perfume offers a moderate projection and sillage during its initial hour, accompanied by a longevity of around 5 hours.

Upon the first spray, I found it to be reminiscent of both Armani Code Perfume and YSL's Libre EDP for women fragrances. While it's undoubtedly a pleasant fragrance, Myslf perfume doesn't quite bring something entirely novel or unique to the table.

The opening is marked by a burst of green citrus, similar to Armani Code Perfume, which soon gives way to the emergence of Turkish blossom. This floral note gracefully tempers the initial sharpness of the citrus, transforming it into an enchanting aroma that draws you in.

As the scent evolves, the dry-down unveils a harmonious blend of woody and earthy notes, complemented by a fine hint of creamy musky undertone.

This transformation in the fragrance's character makes it an appealing choice and suitable as a signature scent for all year round.

Despite its marketing as a men's fragrance, I find it versatile enough for women to confidently wear as well.

A mess! Synthetic, sweet, fruity, bubblegummy, slightly woody. Nothing new, a cheap smelling scent for young people, with a poor longevity.

A nice masculine scent. Orange blossom in an woody-amber base. SImple yet timeless. It recalls Sulpture Homme or even Libre. Pretty good.
