My discovery of the Narciso Rodriguez...
It was quite a few years ago when the employee of the local perfumery sprayed Narciso Rodriguez For Him Musc Collection on the paper strip. What reminded me in the first seconds of an almost pungent overdosed scent of father, uncle and from my point of view such aged gentlemen, changed after a spray on my wrist quickly into the wonderful combination of musk, iris, pepper and who knows what else for nuances that immediately drew me under their spell. Fresh, spicy, lightly floral, a slight sweetness and then that musk, an unmistakable Narciso trademark, as I would note at some point later. I don't even remember exactly why this of all fragrances was recommended to me, as I don't recall asking for a masculine-animalic scent. Or maybe it was just luck, because the scent was just new on the shelves and recommending it was part of the lady's usual trade. Or maybe she was just really good at her craft and looked at what I needed ;-) Anyway, I felt like a great explorer who has just discovered a new continent and is looking forward to getting to know all the unknown that is waiting for him. For days, maybe even weeks, I looked forward to wearing it in the morning or again in the evening. Always finding a reason to go back to the bottle and take a spray. Was I addicted? Maybe, thank goodness but no reason to go to the anonymous spray addicts.
Of course, such behavior also applies to other fragrances that just blow you away in a positive sense. But are we now times, we are discoverers.

Not just my childhood hairdresser..
Just type and do not think, I had actually intended for my review after I had sprayed me the first salvo Declaration. But then that's not so easy.

The word Salve does not really hit it, but bergamot and maybe orange pop me citrus-fresh and initially sweetish in the nose. Spray I do not need again, it still pops, I just have to briefly wave my hand in front of my nose. Gradually something changes, stop waving it around, I tell myself. That spice is developing that I read about in advance of my purchase - that's right, it was a blind buy. Is it cardamom and cedar now, lightly spicy, oriental, hitting my nose? Probably. I'll check the description again. Mugwort, no idea what mugwort smells like. I look it up and... yes, that must be it, a hint of mint, juniper. Then my nose lands on my hand again. A slight sting in the nose, the initial freshness and spice is clear, but then also for a moment soap, freshly washed and ironed shirt. Boy, take that nose off your hand, people on the street or in the office don't hang your neck with it either. I reach for my cup of coffee and sniff it first. No sooner have I put it away than something new opens up. The described top note fades a little, but does not disappear so quickly. The heart note I can still perceive well, but clammy and secretly join now woody and "green" notes, a now (so to speak) citrusy-spicy freshness in the forest. Promptly I can't get the question out of my head, where the heck have you smelled this before? It's definitely not a scent you've encountered in everyday life lately, I tell myself. I decide to take a break for now, to devote myself to other things.

And as I walk through the apartment like this, my own breeze of Declaration blows around me to do what its name stands for: to announce it was your hairdresser, remember how he put the ruff and cape on you, how he took his time cutting your hair, what stories he used to tell. The penny had finally dropped, almost a revelation.

Of course, it wasn't Declaration that hairdresser used back then, because that was simply too long ago, but that was exactly what Declaration reminded me of. Declaration is definitely not an old man or even grandpa fragrance, it is a fragrance that makes men more adult, which gives them character, even if they are "only" thirty and character is not just a question of fragrance. It has a magical note that is difficult to describe, a fragrance that after the fresh and also slightly spicy-oriental start transforms more and more into a clearly masculine scent. This is especially noticeable when you refrain from constantly waving your hand right in front of your nose. I would so love to walk past myself. I'd probably turn around.

Of course, I didn't bang out my text in two minutes (despite the 10-finger system), but let it all sink in. He has now not directly something to do with his fragrance twin of Narciso, which I like very well, but yes, I like him, the Narciso as well as the Declaration.

My statement, declaration and proclamation is over with it ;-)
