A glorious fragrance
This is my absolute favorite fragrance! I grew up in India and Santal Royal evokes memories of temples for me. The floral notes jasmine and rose are layered with notes of sandalwood, smoke and incense. I know that latter two notes are not commonly cited here. This feeling probably comes from the leather, musk and amber in the base notes. Very South Asian nostalgia. Incredible longevity and sillage!
Not a good fragrance for a blind buy. The smoky, floral incense may not sit well with certain people. This is the only perfume that has received a 10/10 so far from me.

A perfume that fell out of favor for me!
I had both the D&G Intenso EDP and the D&G Intenso aftershave. Still have a bit of the aftershave remaining. Overall, it is a decent fragrance with herbal, woody and spicy notes. The concern with D&G Intenso is that it doesn't stand out.
I bought it before I developed a better nose for perfumes. Now I look for more of a personality in my perfumes.

Cheap, but really no value because of its very poor longevity
Extremely poor longevity, even from a cologne point of view. I have other colognes from 4711 that project and last longer. There is something very bitter and synthetic that makes this one a hard pass for me. I cannot perceive bergamot or green tea in this.
4711 Acqua Colonia lacks any sort of personality. It doesn't really work as a cologne because of its ultra short longevity. I am trying to finish it off by dousing myself in it.
I bought this in memory of the L'Occitane The Vert EDT, which was one of my favorites.

Interesting, but expensive and low performance
This review is based on a sample I bought directly from MFK. Samples are inexpensive (4 for $25) compared to the perfume bottles.
This is one of those perfumes that are famous for being famous. Coming from Kurkdjian, a master perfumer, I knew BR540 would be unique and interesting. Sure, it was. The woody notes, saffron and floral notes are blended so exquisitely that the composite smell is amazing. It is not easy to discern these notes separately.
However, the poor performance (at least on my skin) makes it less appealing to me. I cannot smell it on me after 4-6 hours. To contrast this, I can smell MFK Oud Satin Mood on me even two days after application. So, this is definitely overpriced ($465 for 2.4 oz) for what it provides. I strongly recommend getting a sample before you spend big money on this.
