Pour Homme done right

Apparently it's somewhat of a thing in Italy for perfumes to smell like soap. "Signorina, I am so a-clean, I washed myself with soap, smell me!", that's how I imagine it. D&G Pour Homme is like that and Intenso is like that. Forget all this talk about it being herbal and what not, it smells just like soap or some other hygiene product - someone said baby powder and it's not wrong either. Naturally, soap will imitate flowers, herbs, whatever, but will still smell like soap, and this fragrance smells like soap trying to imitate herbs and flowers, not like herbs or flowers themselves. You want herbs, go try Dior Aqua Fahrenheit.

Now, I HATE Pour Homme, because it has a very pronounced and sharp tobacco component completely spoiling the scent. This does not and I like it. You can find a tobacco note if you look for it, but it's faint. What I especially like about this fragrance is its soft, velvety feel.

The bottle colors look completely wrong, they convey something of an opposite character, like woody sweet, there's not enough tobacco to justify all the browns. The shape, however, fits a hygiene product.

Hay/Tobacco/Lavender

The hay note is strong in this one, I love the combination of lavender, tobacco and hay!

It easily reminds me of Dior's Sauvage, in that they are both very nice though not great. A great wonderful soap and clean smell.

So awesome for casual events but also a possible option for fancy events.

Niche and high-end collectors might overlook this but if you want something simple with a good life and projection then this will do for everyday activities.

Very few scents out there with hay as the main note, this does a great job of putting it in the spotlight and mixing it up with the tobacco and lavender.

Underrated spicy gem

I was hesitant with Intenso because it's been very overlooked by the frag comm and the few reviews I found in youtube weren't very favorable but stubborn as I am I decided to buy online despite having D&G pour Homme already in my collection. Glad I did! Is it similar to D&G pour Homme? Of course, it's a flanker, that's what flankers are! however, it's a more interesting version which I've heard is closer to the original Pour Homme than current Pour Homme reformulation.

I love how Intenso increases the tobacco of the original which blends perfectly with the lavander, basil and aquatic notes adding a little darkness and depth to the formula while keeping some soapy clean nuances, it's both clean and dirty at the same time. Worth the while, perhaps you should check it out and not make it a blind buy as I did but you should give it a try.

75ml bottle should do, not sure one needs more than that

"Hay," this is alright!

Before I got a decant of this, I read up on hay absolute. Apparently it's an ingredient perfumers use to bring some sweetness without using vanilla- my arch-nemesis in scents. I half expected the hay note to hide in the sandalwood and cypress, but no: this scent features hay, and I kinda love that!

Don't get me wrong, this is a designer scent after all; it's not like Intenso comes across as Eau de Barnyard. There's still synth aquatic stuff and woods and the compulsory lavender - but it's like one of five Iron Chef scent "dishes" within Battle Hay if that makes sense. It's a masculine-designer take on hay that works; there's an inherent bitterness to the hay that they're both featuring and smoothing out. The bitterness lingers on the drydown, which is a plus to me. Sillage is pretty good, longevity is medium. I'd wear it!

A perfume that fell out of favor for me!

I had both the D&G Intenso EDP and the D&G Intenso aftershave. Still have a bit of the aftershave remaining. Overall, it is a decent fragrance with herbal, woody and spicy notes. The concern with D&G Intenso is that it doesn't stand out.

I bought it before I developed a better nose for perfumes. Now I look for more of a personality in my perfumes.
