Warm, peaceful, interesting and slightly provocative vanilla
"What fragrance are you wearing?" I asked my girlfriend at the time.
"Alien," she replied.
"That can't be, I have it too and I know what it smells like. I like it, but what I smell really isn't Alien!"
"Yes, really, I have no idea what you smell!"

So we continued to walk side by side.
This sweetness kept coming up, such a wonderful scent that was definitely not alien. But what was it? Was it her washing powder?
At some point - it took too long - I had an epiphany.

"Oh, I know what I smell! That's my perfume that I tested this morning!"

And it was "Spiritueuse Double Vanille | Guerlain".

Which since then has also combined very well in my head with "Alien (Eau de Parfum) | Mugler".

I have the same phenomenon today, namely that of "a cloud of fragrance keeps coming up and I can enjoy the scent".

The longevity is really amazing.

The vanilla I perceive is consistent from the start, sweet on the one hand, but not sticky, rather like a vanilla that has been briefly dipped in rum and then baked into the most amazing cake to be served for dessert on Christmas Eve.
It has something familiar, something cozy and warm, but at the same time seductive and smoky.
With this fragrance, I'm not sitting on the sofa drinking cocoa and reading, I'm sitting on a chaise longue in front of a fireplace drinking rum, I'm on vacation and enjoying time for myself or with friends. The surroundings are cozy but elegant.

I love the fragrance very much and for me it fits perfectly in winter. And then it's also absolutely unisex for me.

Classic elegance
When I wanted to try the other day in the perfumery both No 19 and Coco by Chanel, to have the direct comparison, because I could not decide, explained to me the saleswoman that No 19 is a rather fresh fragrance for the spring, and she would therefore recommend Coco for the winter.
A little bit, I had to smile there but, because I thought to myself that she has certainly not too often let the fragrance develop.

But no problem, that's what I'm here for, I like to do! :)

I did know what No 19 smelled like, but like I said, I wasn't sure which one I liked better.

So I walked around with both scents (No 19 left arm, Coco right arm) all day, sniffing every now and then.

Spoiler: I could not - and can me until today - decide which I find "more beautiful".

But after following it all day, I quickly realized that I particularly like smelling No 19 because it just smells super clean and crisp to me. But at the same time elegant and unobtrusive, and yet you can smell it.
The iris, which I love so much in general, comes through incredibly beautifully. Although the fragrance is fresh, it is also heavy at the same time and thus absolutely wearable for me, even in cold seasons.
On the contrary, when I wear No 19 now (yes, I have decided to do so, due to the fact that my colleague always wears Coco and I smell it so super often anyway), then I feel at this cold time of year as if my fragrance and thus my charisma merge with the cold and it becomes a great coherent composition.

It doesn't offer the typical contrast of "wear warm scents in cold seasons and vice versa" but it feels right to wear a scent that itself has a reserved and "cold" vibe. - Very strange description, I know.

All in all, No 19 is for me a terrific fragrance that you can always wear, I like it extraordinarily well!

Unfortunately not mine at all
After I have seen many many statements and videos about the fragrance, I have now ordered it. For 13 € you can't really do anything wrong.

Wrong do or no do. When I just tried it, I had to resist the urge to wash it off immediately. I wanted to see if it changed minimally.

Yeah, he's cute. Yeah, he's vanilla. Yes, it's smothering and it makes me sick. Even though I love vanilla, sweet scents, however heavy they may be, absolutely!

Something chocolatey he has for me too. But above all that, I think there is this heavy rum note paired with coconut. My first thought was Burbon and an old cigar room that smells musty.
And unfortunately not in the cosy way, but in the "air-painting-style".

I'm relatively sure that the note I don't like is the coconut, which I find simply unsuitable here. If it was just coconut and vanilla, it would be a good summer scent, just rum and vanilla, maybe a nice winter scent, but the mixture of all three puts a lot of strain on my nose.

Due to the fact that the performance is not very good, the scent is now much less present after only 30 minutes and therefore not as bad.
Now I can even imagine that one day I might wear it voluntarily if I walk around outside in the cold and nobody else smells it. But also just to try it again.
With men I can actually imagine him a little better. At least then I wouldn't tell that man directly that I don't like his smell.

For 13 € one can surely try it once, but one should be prepared for everything.

From grandma to mama to me on the shelf
I smelled this scent on my grandmother for the first time.
I still remember exactly where the bottle was standing in her bathroom, on the shelf above the toilet. But nowadays I almost believe that it was the right perfume for her at that time, because the bottle was super small and we had to be very careful with it and not to take it down!

Because of this necessary caution, No 4 and I had a very special relationship from an early age. Because for me, I have always associated something expensive, noble and special with the fragrance.
So again a very noble smell.

When I got older, I lost sight of it, subconsciously I always thought that it would certainly cost far more than 100 € and thus be out of reach for me anyway.

Then a few years ago, my mother got the eau de parfum from my father for Christmas. She had never used it before and for me, that moment when she unwrapped it was magical, because I thought that this 100ml bottle must be prohibitively expensive, as great as the fragrance is and as careful as we should be as children with grandma's perfume.

When he was standing in my mother's bathroom, I couldn't get around it, however, whenever I got ready to apply a few splashes of No 4. And every time I felt incredibly good.

So now I just had to get it

At that time I wasn't very much into fragrances, but I knew Chanel's No 5 very well and liked it very much myself, as well as Elie Saab Intense, which I wore myself and which reminds me of No 5.

Then and now I must say that as soon as I apply No 4, I have to think directly of an elegant, bright, quick-witted, seductive, intelligent woman.
The scent is of course incredibly heavy and oriental, but it has something that I miss, for example, in Chanels No 5. Something alive.

If Chanels No 5 represents the unattainable lady who drinks her martini in the corner of the casino in an elegant and sexy way and who would never get involved with anyone, Jil Sanders No 4 for me is the lady who is just as elegant and seductive, but who skilfully uses her charms to achieve what she wants, stands at the roulette table with the gentlemen and at the end of the day can also choose whom she wants to take along.
Jil Sander No 4 has initiative for me.

I know that with the descriptions one has only a very vague idea of the fragrance, but I very much hope that these associations can help one or the other.

PS. Although grandma and mom already wore this scent, I would never say that it has associations with a grandma scent for me

Please, what did you say?
I bought a small bottle of Iris Prima in the offer, because I simply love Iris as a note!
The packaging and the flacon are also beautiful, as is the fragrance, which is a bit powdery, a bit leathery and somehow fresh.
However, my main drawback is that the scent can only be perceived after an hour if I really touch my skin with my nose. I don't think that's so great for such a high-priced scent.
So of course you can wear it well at work or at home, but do I really want to spend over 200 € (original price for 100ml) to wear a perfume that neither I nor anyone else can really perceive?

I still have to test it several times to see if it holds better on some clothes.

Otherwise I will probably start wearing it to go to sleep, because cuddly and cozy is the scent all the time!
