Up high! Down low! Too slow... - or: the world is mean!
I ordered a decant of Malabah together with Luna and was really looking forward to the test. I have been wishing for a nice tea scent for a long time, but I haven't found one yet. So let's put it on the skin! Neck, arms, back, EVERYTHING!
Scent:
Malabah starts astronomically well. The best tea scent ever with candied ginger, sweet lemons, and a hint of spice. I can't get enough of it. After just a few seconds, I was already frantically Googling and almost hammered on the "Order now for a fee" button, but I told myself: WAIT! And luckily. Because after not even 20 minutes, the most beautiful of all top notes has vanished and what's left is: NOTHING. Gaping emptiness. If I press my nose deep into my wrist, I smell a few musty, damp tea bags and a generic musk-sandalwood base hovering 5mm above the skin.
Where has the magic gone? Where is the fresh tea with lemon and ginger? Where is the refined spice? Simply gone.
Conclusion:
Even after several tests, the scent leaves me standing dumb in the rain after 20 minutes. An experience like a doorbell prank or a bad joke. A perfume that really makes me feel down. What a pity.
From the 10+ points top note and the 1 point base, I can unfortunately only give a 2 due to my disappointment. Sorry, but anyone who plays with my feelings gets deductions...
At least sister Luna is here to comfort me.

More of a fragrance for an emerald
When you hear the story of the fragrance and try to imagine the scent of a ruby, you will be very disappointed during the first testing. Just like I was. I thought of fiery heat, of sultry and dominant amber, basically of the orange Grand Soir in an even "redder" version.
Even when looking at the fragrance pyramid, you inevitably think of a heavy oriental.
If I imagine that many approach the fragrance with this expectation, I can easily explain the many negative reviews. Because the scent is truly beautiful, but not what one looks forward to with that name.
Upon the first spray, the fragrance is very subtle; you first smell the sweet cloud that hovers above everything. It smells really much sweeter than sugar, and you inevitably think of stevia (which is said to be 300 times sweeter than sugar and doesn’t smell sugary, but rather plant-cool). The orange adds a bit of fruitiness, but you don’t really smell it directly.
Gradually, the fragrance becomes a bit more intense, but it always remains relatively close to the skin. Beneath the sweet cloud hides what for me does not fit at all with the ruby: a relatively cool-ethereal fir balsam base with slightly woody notes. It smells a bit like the essential oils of a chewing gum or a cold balm. I don’t mean this negatively; I like that kind of thing. But when I smell something like this, I simply have the color green in my mind, not red.
Overall, the fragrance is very airy, like a sweet-cool breeze that continually wafts into your nose. It stays that way on me; it doesn’t really develop. However, it lasts a very long time, a good 9 hours, and much longer on clothing.
Unfortunately, I miss the amber throughout the entire fragrance journey. My only explanation is that it hides somewhere in the sweet cloud. But on second glance, a warm-resinous amber wouldn’t fit the fragrance concept at all.
Personally, I find the fragrance truly beautiful. It’s this exaggerated sweetness on that cold-ethereal base that I love and that keeps making me sniff at my wrist. It’s a scent that doesn’t spread a cozy warmth, but for me has something calming about it.
It is also definitely unisex. The cool base makes it wearable for men as well, as the sweetness doesn’t deter them.
Conclusion: The name, the dedication, and the fragrance pyramid are somehow very misleading for me. You expect red fire but get cool green instead. Nevertheless, I love this fragrance for its unusual composition and its calming aura. A masterpiece!
So: Bring a bit of mental flexibility when testing, close your eyes, and imagine an emerald - perfect!

Mission impossible or: How do I justify 1 liter of perfume?
A very dear perfumer sent me a small sample of this, thank you again!
When I first sniffed it at the TZ, I didn't smell anything at first and thought to myself, "Okay. Then not." Then I sprayed it for the first time, without any great expectations. If you sniff immediately, the alcohol hits you first, in which everything is dissolved. Still meh. I somehow doubted whether there was even a perfume in there.
But then a wonderful vanilla emerges. At first (about 1-2 hours) it is still very fruity with only subtle smoky notes in the background. I can't name a specific fruit... apple-strawberry? Somehow also a bit liqueur-like. In any case, I like it, even though I don't quite know what I'm smelling.
Then it becomes increasingly smoky and the fruity aspect recedes (about 2-4 hours). It is truly a beautifully balanced smoke-vanilla note, and I just love that. A bit like Shalimar light without the animalistic notes.
Later, the smoky note slowly bids farewell and only the wonderful sweet vanilla remains (which I don't find artificial at all). It's not overpowering and not "edible," but very beautifully fragrant.
I was immediately fired up. WOW! First, I googled what this actually is. When I read EdC, I was almost disappointed again. I somehow thought it wouldn't last long and wanted to test it further. But even the next morning after waking up, I could still smell the great vanilla on me, and not even many EdPs can achieve that! So despite being an EdC, it has a longevity that one can only dream of! (at least for me, 16h+).
The sillage, however, is rather mediocre, so you're not swimming in a huge cloud of scent. Nevertheless, it is noticeable.
When I then saw that you can get 1 liter for just under 35 euros, I knew: I have to have this!
Brain off - wallet open ... as it goes xD
Now I have two 500ml bottles, and I haven't regretted the purchase for a second. Whenever I don't know what to wear or when I'm cozy at home or when I just want a calming scent to fall asleep, I can reach for Eau des Missions without any guilt and enhance the moment. With expensive perfumes, you always have to consider whether it’s worth it, etc. ...
By the way, the bottles are really beautiful! They look more like alcohol for internal use, but that's probably due to the size. High-quality label with a touch of nostalgia. You can tell that this little water has history, and you feel like you have something very expensive in your hands. Unfortunately, they prefer to disappear into the cupboard for the sake of the scent :)
Whether it’s a dupe or not, I can't say. For me, this scent has enough justification for existence. It doesn't have to measure up to anything.
Conclusion: For vanilla lovers, a really beautiful scent for all occasions. Ridiculously priced - first-class product. And a wonderful scent progression brings joy while wearing it. What more could you want?
Why this scent was discontinued is incomprehensible.
