The first time I tried it was a spray on both wrists, which I tried to wash off after just 15 minutes because the synthetic nature of the fragrance made me feel unwell - almost like I had a headache. I would like to emphasize that I tried, because even after three washes, the fragrance was still slightly noticeable. And the fragrance is still very noticeable on clothing days later - few perfumes that I know of can beat it in terms of longevity.
Anyway, I left the fragrance for a while and didn't pay any more attention to it for a few months, until my eye caught the small bottle recently and I thought I'd give it another try. After all, I had bought a 5 ml bottle and it would be a shame to let it gather dust or even throw it away. And lo and behold: the acrid, unpleasant synthetics have completely faded into the background. Still clearly noticeable, but not at all negative. This would be the first time that I have ever liked a fragrance that I thought was bad at first. However, I have read in the forum about similar experiences from some other perfume lovers. Maybe it's a bit like drinking coffee, after all I don't know anyone who liked their first coffee.
Well, the scent itself: I think aquatic sums it up very well, but if you think of turquoise blue sandy beaches with gentle waves, you're in the wrong place. I associate this fragrance with the rough sea, gigantic waves thundering against cliffs under a layer of gray clouds, I think of small ships trying to fight the current in a thunderstorm, of piers that show years of resistance to the tides. This aquatic component in combination with the synthetics described above and a very light breeze of "fresh" make the fragrance a successful feat for me. Friends of mine have described the fragrance as "masculine" and "mature", which I would agree with. I would wear Megamare on rather gloomy days and evenings. A true fragrance experience, with a very original DNA that I have never experienced before. I would also like to point out that Megamare is absolutely not suitable for every nose, but I would still recommend all perfume lovers to try it at least once.
Finally, however, I have to say on the negative side that the sillage did not live up to my expectations. With an average rating of 9.3, I was expecting a real bomb and instead got a Chinese bombshell. Leaving the metaphor aside, I would describe the sillage as "good" at best, but I can't really explain how this stark deviation from many other ratings came about, but perhaps it has something to do with different batches or something similar. In any case, I have stored my fragrance as befits this craftsmanship.
