Sunshine in a Bottle
I received L’Immensité as a gift and I have worn it alongside Tygar, BDC, Percival, Sedley, Afternoon Swim, and Imagination. In my opinion, it borrows and shares a bit with them all. The magnificent grapefruit openings of Tygar & Afternoon Swim. The intoxicating & ethereal quality of Imagination without the tealeaf (which I prefer). The versatility and depth of BDC EDP (with Cascalone replacing Incense). The aromatic & fresh spiciness of the PDM “blues” but even smoother.

In terms of pure AROMA, it’s hard to dismiss L’Immensité as an ALL-TIME GREAT. I browsed two LV stores last month where the sales staff noted their preference for it as their best men’s fragrance.

What may be even more impressive, you could call this a linear scent, because (for myself) it just does NOT dry down for 6-9 hours and this includes the very high-quality citrus opening and aquatic heart notes. (What I find with Tygar and its clones (e.g. Turathi Blue) is that they gradually drydown to a heavy spice/amber that I do not like.

In terms of VALUE. since I own a bottle of L’Immensité now, the cost to refill 100ml will be comparable to buying another bottle of BDC EDP noting that L'Immensite is higher quality (niche level), has more longevity, and takes fewer sprays.

I am very glad I received it as a gift because I would have put the money instead towards 2-3 other designer alternatives and not experienced what I have in hand now and IT IS SPECIAL.

The hidden monster under the bed of raving reviews
BDC Parfum is my signature fragrance. Longevity & sillage are a bit lacking but it's a masterpiece nonetheless. Most recently, I have tried a couple of dozen clones of different fragrances from Armaf, Afnan, Alexandria, & Dua.

Bleu de Dua Attar, just for a moment, smells almost identical to BDC Parfum, top & bottom. Unlike the screeching cacophony of synthetic grapefruit and spicy accords of Armaf Club de Nuit Blue Iconic, Bleu de Dua Attar has a smoothness about it that comes very close to what BDC EDP & Parfum achieve.

Contrary to another review the opening is close to me, but I wholeheartedly agree with that same review there is something off in this mix that is offputting, quite frankly it's horrendous in nature. I can't quite describe what it is, but it is the worst accord I have ever smelled in a fragrance. It's almost like something died in this concoction like a rodent plunging into it & dissolving in the mixture.

BLEU DE DUA ATTAR CURRENTLY COSTS $2.00/ML WHEREAS BDC PARFUM CAN BE HAD FOR LESS THAN $1.50/ML (even after the recent markup by Chanel). I think I'll reapply the real stuff vs ever using trash like this in the name of so-called longevity & sillage touted by the clone community.

After trying a plethora of (and owning a few) clones now, it is obvious the reviews are padded in some manner either by the manufacturer or folks excited by the prospect of having a cheaper alternative in the same ballpark. There are lots of great clones, but this one does not even belong at the hot dog stand at that ballpark.

If you want something decent in this genre of fragrance I would recommend one of the Bvlgari Tygar clones such as Afnan Turathi Blue or Alexandria Black Panther (both incredible). Alexandria Zion, patterned after Roja Elysium, is also very well done (having decants of both Roja concentrations).

In terms of an actual BDC clone, I find Alexandria Bleu Memoire to be on the right path, very smooth, in between BDC EDP & Parfum, but very weak to my nose. Enjoy your BDC EDP & Parfum, they are tough acts to follow and in this even case even cheaper than their would-be imitator.
