Aerin Evening Rose

Besides the rose, no flower captured my imagination in perfume searches. I long for the rose. Not a simple soliflore but a potent rose with spice, oud, pepper, something!

I came across an almost full bottle of Aerin Evening Rose on ebay for about 60% off. Normally, I would only spend more than a hundred bucks on something I was very familiar with that had great lasting power. Evening Rose was unsniffed and having tried its brother, Amber Musk, I would reckon the lasting power on the whole line would not be superb. I did not think I would own Evening Rose for that reason alone.

But for some reason, the fabric design, texture and colors of the packaging captured my imagination and I went ahead and bought the discounted bottle.

Supposedly the prints on the bottles from Aerin's latest perfume collection come from her homewear line. I could picture this type of design on a gorgeous couch somewhere in a Hamptons house, or on a statement piece in an expensive white room.

Additionally, the bottle of the perfume is kinda gorgeous. It is made of heavy glass and has a classy top that reminds me of polished stone in complimentary colors.

For $110, they could have made the stone real, not plastic. It would have lent heft to the already heavy glass bottle, but it would have been so incredibly classy. As it is, the cap looks good from far away but that's it.

Now to the real deal: the perfume itself. Evening Rose opens with a blast of fresh, boozy rose. It is very powerful at first but quickly relaxes into a juicy rose, almost like jam. The official notes list rose, cognac and blackberry. I can feel them all in there. The rose is obviously more powerful and stays throughout. The cognac is in the first impression only. I wish it would stay longer. The juiciness of the blackberry (I feel other fruits too) remains throughout.

I love Evening Rose but it is gone too soon. If you spray it heavily, it will last about half and hour. I keep my bottle with me so I can reapply, but this being only 50 mls, I can see this quickly becoming an empty bottle.

Still, when I was about to sell it, I pulled back and decided to keep it for some reason. This is a rose fragrance that retains an incredibly classy character, almost like a British rose. It might not be worth its price, considering how many wonderful rose fragrances there are on the market, but it is somehow bewitching.
