Sunset? Not really
When I read about the new fragrance from Jul Sander and saw the fragrance pyramid, I was really looking forward to it. Rose, patchouli, vanilla - I like all of these, especially in this combination! So the new Red seemed promising.
So it happened that I marched into my trusted drugstore to test this perfume. Found it right away, red bottle, chic, excitement, the color is very appealing and about what I imagined in terms of color association.
First spray, second spray on paper. What is this? It doesn't smell at all...
So I applied a good amount on my wrist, hoping the warmth would do it good...
Somewhat disappointed, I tried to sniff out something. There was a bit of flower, a bit sweet, very subtle.
Barely any projection for this fragrance that I was so looking forward to. I hadn’t given up hope yet and kept smelling the spot over the next few hours.
At some point, the floral body lotion turned into a bit of rose, sweet rose but only very lightly.
After a while, a hint of vanilla joined in, also very light.
An Eau de Parfum Intense with so little sillage? So little projection?
Maybe my expectations were set too high, but Sunset has disappointed me greatly. After a few hours, it was already fading away, and at that spot, only a minimal hint of vanilla could be detected.
Such a shame, but that's how it goes sometimes...

It's a match!
I encountered this fragrance for the first time at the beginning of my passion for good scents. In my local perfumery, I asked for a perfume with a lot of patchouli, which I really like.
When nothing really appealed to me after several samples, the lady recommended Sandalo, and at first, I was skeptical, but I let her apply it on my neck and wrists.
Unique, I had never smelled anything like it before, and the scent accompanied me all day. I couldn't believe the wonders that perfumes are capable of, and to this day, I long for the feeling that Sandalo once gave me with every scent sample.
A fragrance that will forever be my first "real" one and will always be my place of comfort. A homage to sandalwood in its most beautiful form and, for me, always unmatched.
At first, the citrusy top note determines the scent, with petitgrain and bergamot setting the tone, but sandalwood can already be sensed early on. It doesn't take long for the sandalwood to assert itself through the heart note and finally the base, in a beautiful embrace of warmth and spice.
Overall, a very nice, classically masculine fragrance for all occasions, which also has the potential to be unisex. Worn on the neck, it sends me little reminders throughout the day. The bottle is typically understated for AdP but of high quality.

Fig Tree in Fragrance
Acqua di Parma knows how to conjure a composition around and for the fig. It is always present, initially very cautiously winding through citrus notes, becoming more and more pronounced, from the blossom to the fruit - dancing - from the blossom over the branch to the trunk. It is always there and always beautiful and enough.
Fig from Amalfi and warmer of my heart.
You have conjured many beautiful images for me and awaken many lovely memories.

Everything We Love
Patchouli Ardent by Guerlain is a true delight.
The fragrance opens with a top note of pepper and fig, which is very intense and almost overwhelming. The patchouli is present from the start, enveloping like a warmer, earthier veil.
This intensity continues into the heart and base notes, where the scent boasts leather, cedar, and especially rose. Always on the verge of being a little "too much," always warm, always evening, always just enough.
Oriental bazaar, starry sky, a lot of hustle and bustle but everything in its place.
Overall, Patchouli Ardent is a fragrance that is perfect for the evening and radiates a distinctive and unique aura.
The longevity of the scent is extraordinarily good, lasting all evening without fading. I love the way the fragrance develops on my skin and changes throughout the day. Time and again, a little cloud teases my nose and invites daydreaming. It's not quiet; rather, it is passionate.
I first smelled it quite by chance in a Douglas store and was immediately smitten; on the same day, I bought a bottle and continue to delight in this wonderful perfume with every spray.
Overall, I can recommend Patchouli Ardent by Guerlain to anyone looking for an intense, warm, and unique fragrance that leaves an unforgettable scent signature. A fragrance that not only delights the nose but also touches the soul.
