From Zero to Hero
For me, Eden Roc is a little phenomenon that took quite a while to win my heart. The advertisement for the fragrance immediately appealed to me - who wouldn't want to stay in a luxury hotel on the French Riviera? I saw myself sitting by the exclusive pool in a white summer dress with a hat and sunglasses and imagined this subtle yet elegant expensive hotel fragrance wafting past my nose again and again. Oh my!

So at the first opportunity I wandered to the big Douglas in the city center, as there was the Dior Privée stand there (sadly now a thing of the past). With curiosity and anticipation, I sprayed the fragrance on myself and... What's that? A bit fresh, a bit jasmine-floral, a bit mineral um??? Somehow no wow feeling. That was probably nothing like a luxury hotel. Disappointment set in and I bought another fragrance from my wish list instead. The nice saleswoman gave me several Eden Roc samples to go with it.

On parfumo, I then expressed my disappointment with Eden Roc in one or two places and completely agreed with the scathing reviews.
But following the motto "give it another chance", I took the first sample to test. And lo and behold - I don't think it's that bad. It at least gives me a very fine, well-groomed feeling and, above all, is not intrusive, but lingers in the background without disturbing.

When it was time for my next vacation, I packed another one of the samples along with a few other fragrances. At the end of the vacation, Eden Roc was the only sample that was completely empty. I kept reaching for it without a care in the world because it's just so easy and pleasant and always made me feel cared for and well-scented. It's a bit like a part of the outfit that makes it just that little bit better. The icing on the cake. And so more samples traveled with me to Bavaria, to Scotland, to team events, to Spain, Ireland and finally to Norway, where I had used up the last sample. In the end, it was clear that I needed a whole bottle.

I had never experienced such a development with any other fragrance before. Normally I like the fragrance immediately or never again, but Eden Roc has become more and more beautiful for me over time, a love at third sight perhaps. Yes, it is not a sillage monster, it is not very noticeable, it is also difficult to describe because it has no real rough edges, but it radiates the lightness of a vacation and simply has something super pleasant, caring, elegant, which makes it a fragrance that always makes you feel good and is never too much.

The most luxurious orange blossom fragrance
And again, I associate one of my absolute favorite fragrances with a travel experience. I would love to tell you that I discovered this fragrance in Paris, or even better: during a summer holiday in Morocco, because that's where this scent fits perfectly for me. But no, I discovered this fragrance in the little oriental London - better said in the duty-free shop at Heathrow Airport - over 10 years ago.

There attracted me this pretty packaging with dark green leaves and oranges magically and I just had to grab the tester. One spray - and I was transported from London to the south. I wore a white summer dress with a white hat like the Rafaello woman and strode through an orange grove. Orange blossoms surrounded me and a light breeze wafted the delicate floral scent into my nose. So beautiful, so pleasant, so classic and endlessly luxurious. I had to have this one!

Infusion de Fleur d'Oranger is for me to this day the most beautiful orange blossom scent I have ever smelled. It is particularly fine and floral but not exhausting. The fragrance notes are very well balanced. It's just a light oriental sea of flowers that surrounds you. Super nice for summer evenings out. I always feel very luxuriously breathed on when wearing it ;) .

After the fragrance was initially discontinued by Prada, I desperately went in search of a replacement, but to no avail. I bought as a replacement Orange Blossom Cologne (ok, but not nearly as good), and later found a fragrance that is at least similar: Fleur d'Oranger Intense , but that is unlike the Prada fragrance in the long run exhausting.

My happy ending came when Prada re-released Infusion de Fleur d'Oranger with the Infusion range. I don't want to miss it now. Given the occasion, I'm going to wear it again tonight too. Am already again quite raptured :) .

In this sense I send you positive orange blossom greetings.

A touch of California in the middle of New York
It was a little more than 4 years ago when I entered a Sephora store in the middle of Manhattan to get rid of my remaining dollars before I had to fly back to Germany. I strolled through the aisles to find something that was not available in Germany.

After I had already put a few lipsticks in the shopping basket, I passed a stand with travel-size perfumes just before the checkout and this beautiful turquoise packaging caught my eye (turquoise is my favorite color). The name was promising: Clementine California.

Perfect - I thought! I love California and clementines! Immediately, I had an idea of the scent in my head. I grabbed the tester, sprayed the perfume on my arm and immediately this wonderful scent cloud of freshly squeezed clementines entered my nose. Instantly, I was transported from rainy NYC to sunny California. I was on a luxurious summer vacation at the beach and in shock infatuation. This was the perfume I had unknowingly been searching for for ages. It's the perfect summer scent - fresh, tangerine, sweet-tart, light with a slight earthy note in the base.

Immediately I went in search of a larger bottle of the perfume, but unfortunately this was not available. So I bought only once the Travel Size and left the store delighted in the joy of something special to have found.

Back in Germany, I then went in search of this fragrance. Atelier Cologne I had never heard before and online searches and visits to the usual suspicious perfume shops were initially unsuccessful. I also had no idea about niche fragrances and where to get them. Until one fine day in the MyZeil Shopping Center I passed a perfumery that offered only niche fragrances.

Full of hope I entered the store and found full of joy a shelf with a large collection of Atelier Cologne fragrances. There it was at last, my 100ml bottle of Clementine California! Since then, I can't imagine summer without this fragrance as my signature scent. No other citrus scent comes close to it - and I have already tested several. Yes, the longevity and sillage aren't outstanding, but that doesn't detract from this heavenly scent that gives me a real happy feeling in the morning. I hope it will be available for a long time, even if it is really not easy to get it in Germany.

My favorite perfume for 4 years
This fragrance has thrilled me from the beginning. Probably it is because he somehow smells like a Louis Vuitton Boutique - or a new handbag. For this I have unfortunately a weakness.
For me, this perfume is very special, the smell is, despite the initially somewhat dominant leather note yet very pleasant and feminine- probably thanks to the raspberry, which comes through well later. For me a perfect combination. I've worn this fragrance almost exclusively as my signature scent (without knowing what that is) for an incredible 4 years. Lately, however, I've become a bit unfaithful to it, as there are other nice fragrances after all. At the moment, its sister "Le jour se leve" is a strong competitor. Mille Feux is more a fragrance for autumn and winter, although I have worn it all year round. In any case, I will always love Mille Feux and refill it as soon as I can go into the boutique again...
