Mediterranean Sea Impression
A glance at the alarm clock says: One more hour until breakfast is served on the balcony!
That means a little more time to snuggle into the softly crackling, delicately scented bedclothes and listen to the summer morning outside the balcony.
The Mediterranean tells another of its endless stories and beckons; it tempts you to pull back the curtains, open the French doors and step out onto the balcony, already shaded by the lowered awning.
Inside, the pleasant, unobtrusive luxury of the "Eden Roc" hotel, just a few minutes' walk from Cap d'Antibes; outside, the summer on the Côte d'Azur, so often admired on the movie screen.
Heart, what more do you want!
François Demachy created a fragrance impression for Christian Dior, which I can well understand.
My statement, by the way, was made before I read the card that the House of Dior included with the fragrance sample that Turandot (thank you, dear!) sent me the other day. This one had gone under my sofa with another precious fragrance bottling and only came out much later.
Monsieur Demachy's remarks would have blown up the space provided here for a statement, but this one contains the essence of his words.
Perhaps we are somehow "relatives in scent" after all?!
"Eden Roc" is "... the salt, the sun, the bright rock, the lush vegetation ..." (François Demachy)
That really says it all.
The salty sea air dominates here quite clearly; who does not like aquatic fragrances, should better stay away from it right away.
The salt seems to settle so clearly on my skin that I'm tempted to lick it off!
The sunlit rocks, almost glistening white in the light, provide a pronounced mineral note that further impregnates the air with aroma.
Various white bloomers in the hotel garden, including large-flowered fragrant jasmine, further emphasize this dreamlike atmosphere.
They are supported by the fresh-fruity aroma of ripe lemons: on trees and in glasses, with and without ice or drinking bowl. (Sorry! Officially, these are called "drinking straws"!)
The conifers surrounding the property, mostly pines, emit strong-spicy fragrances under the warmth of the sun, harmoniously rounding out an almost figurative display of scent.
Thus, it is possible to enjoy an impression of the legendary hotel "Eden Roc" and its extraordinary surroundings quite without packing suitcases and travel comfortably for a few hours.
Even though I am very happy to accept this fragrant invitation, I miss the luxury and attentive service on site.
Because I love this kind of hotels and would have loved to travel along as a "stowaway" when I once had to/could accommodate my boss there for a few days during the MIDEM in Cannes.
(He probably would have thanked me for my company!)
I reach for Dior's card once again to let François Demachy have his own final word:
"A fragrance comes to life when it is worn, a place when it is inhabited.
So let us wish "Eden Roc" a very long life."
I simply echo those wishes
