Luxury hostel or club holiday by the sea?
The Diordüfte from the Privée line, which I like to enjoy at least by filling in the summer are Sakura or Gris, gladly also Rose Kabuki. But they are still not real must-haves. Maybe because they're too similar now, and especially because they're coming on the market in slowly confusing quantities. Now so Eden Roc.

A gladly worn summer fragrance of Dior is for me Escale à Portofino, which sprays not only refreshment, but also holiday mood and I was curious about a comparison, Eden Roc should finally also be a tribute to a holiday resort of the rich and beautiful. The hotel at Cap Antibes could surely tell some interesting stories, as since 1870, many illustrious guests must have come and gone. In such a hotel at the sea, a crime novel with Hercule Poirot could be set. So you could expect nothing less than pure luxury.

Well, rich and beautiful does not necessarily mean loud and ostentatious and in this respect, the fragrance fits into an atmosphere of restrained elegance. I see myself with it not on the beach of the Côte d'Azur but rather in the air-conditioned hotel lobby, where even the concierge sends a shiver of awe down my spine because of his nobility. I remember with a smile a seminar weekend of Estee Lauder, which I was allowed to spend as a very young saleswoman in such a hotel temple.
Eden Roc does not exude a cheerful holiday mood, Mediterranean cheerfulness, or a desire for a trivial flirt, but unfortunately I see more of a super-exclusive rehab clinic in front of me. It is elegant, clean, serious, serious and certainly nothing for cash patients.

Just now I found an offer for 40ml at 98.00Euro, but that's not worth it to me the fragrance then but. Sure, he is also well wearable on hot days, has after the somewhat banal citrus debut also an interesting turn to cooler and calmer components, is in contrast to Sakura or Rose Kabuki also well wearable for men. But it is not a real enrichment of the Privée series. And so it remains for me to wait and see what the next pastel-colored dior fragrance will tell the never-ending story

Mediterranean Sea Impression
A glance at the alarm clock says: One more hour until breakfast is served on the balcony!
That means a little more time to snuggle into the softly crackling, delicately scented bedclothes and listen to the summer morning outside the balcony.
The Mediterranean tells another of its endless stories and beckons; it tempts you to pull back the curtains, open the French doors and step out onto the balcony, already shaded by the lowered awning.
Inside, the pleasant, unobtrusive luxury of the "Eden Roc" hotel, just a few minutes' walk from Cap d'Antibes; outside, the summer on the Côte d'Azur, so often admired on the movie screen.
Heart, what more do you want!

François Demachy created a fragrance impression for Christian Dior, which I can well understand.
My statement, by the way, was made before I read the card that the House of Dior included with the fragrance sample that Turandot (thank you, dear!) sent me the other day. This one had gone under my sofa with another precious fragrance bottling and only came out much later.
Monsieur Demachy's remarks would have blown up the space provided here for a statement, but this one contains the essence of his words.
Perhaps we are somehow "relatives in scent" after all?!

"Eden Roc" is "... the salt, the sun, the bright rock, the lush vegetation ..." (François Demachy)
That really says it all.
The salty sea air dominates here quite clearly; who does not like aquatic fragrances, should better stay away from it right away.
The salt seems to settle so clearly on my skin that I'm tempted to lick it off!
The sunlit rocks, almost glistening white in the light, provide a pronounced mineral note that further impregnates the air with aroma.
Various white bloomers in the hotel garden, including large-flowered fragrant jasmine, further emphasize this dreamlike atmosphere.
They are supported by the fresh-fruity aroma of ripe lemons: on trees and in glasses, with and without ice or drinking bowl. (Sorry! Officially, these are called "drinking straws"!)
The conifers surrounding the property, mostly pines, emit strong-spicy fragrances under the warmth of the sun, harmoniously rounding out an almost figurative display of scent.

Thus, it is possible to enjoy an impression of the legendary hotel "Eden Roc" and its extraordinary surroundings quite without packing suitcases and travel comfortably for a few hours.
Even though I am very happy to accept this fragrant invitation, I miss the luxury and attentive service on site.
Because I love this kind of hotels and would have loved to travel along as a "stowaway" when I once had to/could accommodate my boss there for a few days during the MIDEM in Cannes.
(He probably would have thanked me for my company!)

I reach for Dior's card once again to let François Demachy have his own final word:

"A fragrance comes to life when it is worn, a place when it is inhabited.
So let us wish "Eden Roc" a very long life."
I simply echo those wishes

It could also be a scent from the kipper...
Actually, I really don't like to rate Dior badly, but unfortunately Dior always manages to surprise me negatively. Eden Roc should actually give the whole thing a twist. But no, it is even more disappointing than the other Diors from the Maison Christian Dior series the only exception was Dior Vetiver of course this was discontinued. Thank you Dior at this point the fragrance was really dream, instead Dior sinks more and more into irrelevance.

Now to Eden Roc. The fragrance is unfortunately very quickly described: You get Balade Sauvage Aquatic and its creaminess. As an addition, there are the aquatic notes on steroids plus some citrus instead of fig. I was really hoping for something new here, but alas, no such luck. Unfortunately, I'm really running out of things to do when it comes to testing new Dior perfumes. With the name Eden Roc I would have also expected a much spicier fragrance or from me also in the direction of Goldfield & Banks Pacific Rock Moss.

The durability and silage, however, I find solid here there is no reason to complain.

Between flowers and sea
I would classify the Eden Roc as floral-aquatic. Like most of Dior's fragrances from the Privee series, Eden-Roc is marketed as unisex.

The sprayer of my bottle is unfortunately not 100% satisfactory. Although also a fine spray comes out, but this can not be fine-tuned so well with pressure. Probably my sprayer is subject to small manufacturing fluctuations.

The most prominent notes for me are clearly the jasmine and the sea salt and mineral notes. In the opening you have very briefly a freshness kick, which I would attribute to bergamot and lemon. However, these citrusy notes don't last a minute. The basic character of Eden Roc is achieved after a few minutes. Jasmine trims the scent into a very floral or floral direction. If the sea salt would not take the counterpart here, I would definitely make a very feminine fragrance out of the unisex here. Since the sea salt as well as the mineral notes but are skillfully mixed with the floral tones, I feel Eden-Roc also absolutely wearable for a man. However, you should have an affinity for floral fragrances or at least no fundamental aversion to them.

If I had to represent the fragrance figuratively, then you could imagine this in the form of a high-quality sunscreen. You lie by the sea, now and then the salty sea air mixes with the smell of the flowery sunscreen. After you come out of the sea, your own skin smell has mixed with the sea salt of the water.

In the later drydown, Eden-Roc gains some more profile through the pine. However, one should not expect any tart green tones here. The sunscreen character is merely supplemented by a few spicier elements.

The performance of Eden-Roc is between 6 and 7 hours. This is for me personally the pain threshold in this price range. The first hour Eden-Roc radiates thereby quite potent from the skin, before he then becomes Hautnah.

What are the alternatives in this range? To be honest, some. Some of them in similar price ranges, some also cheaper. There would be on the one hand the Sandflowers of Montale. Also with this sunscreen on salty skin style. Here, however, the opening is much more medicinal and the floral aspects are not as prominent. Price-wise, you get Sandflowers for 100ml for about 100 EUR. The performance is about 8 hours.

The higher-priced variant would be the Acqua di Sale from Profumum Roma. Also here is set on a "salty skin after bathing accord". Due to the high fragrance oil concentration of at least 43%, we have here an incredibly strong durability. Aqua di Sale can be perceived even after 15h on the skin. Pricing is here for 100ml at 225 EUR.

Almost identical to Acqua di Sale smells the Salina of Laboratorio Olfattivo. Here we are at 100€ for 100ml and a shelf life of 8-9 hours. Who the Acqua di Sale is too expensive, which finds here an almost identical variant with slightly weaker durability.

As a fan of aquatic fragrances, I still liked the Eden Roc. The combination of the white-floral elements paired with the salty notes of the sea result for me in total a convincing summer scent. Price-performance is but in view of the alternatives (which are a) cheaper and b) better perform rather poor.

A literal "eau de toilette"
Very ironic considering it is of course an eau de parfum, however in a slightly nasty way Eden Roc could really be said to smell like a more or less standard toilet freshener or toilet fragrance - with a little more depth of scent.

On the plus side, it does indeed smell like seawater, but in the nicest way imaginable.

So if I were on the beach and close to the water, this fragrance would definitely be an apt and good choice, but if you are otherwise not a sailor or sailor and do not have much to do with the sea, at least for me, any reason to wear this fragrance would be missing.
Durability is not enormous, but above average good; in the drydown, the maritime character comes through more and more, but - as I said - in a pleasant and comfortable way.

Otherwise, however, is , as several have already described it here, nothing really stunning or captivating about this fragrance. From a real purchase of the bottle I would therefore rather advise against

Citrus-pine-calone and a faint creamy note. Little artistic value but pleasant and highly functional especially in summertime.

One of my favourites for summer. It is a little bit sweet, but also fresh. It perfectly combines citrus fruits with salt and white flowers.

I mostly smell calone, ald. C18, benzyl salicylate... or something like that
Salty-coco-sun creamy, with marine note too strong for me.
