500 (film) Famous quote: "This is EldOOOOOOoooo"
500 years I have voluntarily bought in a sharing. So it's my own fault too. 500 Years smells like stable oud, spices, also pungent synthetic and quite sweet almost gourmand. As if one had rolled tasty pastries in cow dung and then tried to clean them with disinfectant.

I read through the advertising buzz on the official EldO website. A prankster who thinks of Luther because of the symbolically represented rose on the label of 500 Years. At least the cross in the middle is missing. Maybe EldO have also rowed back from religion after protests (protests from Protestants?), I don't know. Anyway, now they want to serve the rose by means of Renaissance and quote Pierre de Ronsard (1524-1585)

Honey, let's look at the rose,
who might confide in you this morning
the sun her purple robe,
whether the twilight hour bleached
the purple at her flower mouth,
and her complexion, so like yours, faded

Oh, look at how in such a short time,
my heart, close her flower dress
and all the flowers are snowed in
How cruel is the heart of nature,
such beauty only lasts for a few days
from morning to evening.

Believe me, child of my heart
as long as your youth blooms so lind
under spring green signs,
pick the fruit into your womb:
Age, look at the rose, go,
it will bleach your flower

My flower is already quite faded anyway and purple has never been my colour. But the joke is that the family tester M and I don't smell a rose in 500 years. So EldO serve the rose by omitting it. Skatol can't be that expensive..

500 Years is more suitable for the colder half of the year. It certainly lasts from morning to evening, like most fragrances you don't like. If I were to associate the fragrance with a colour, it wouldn't be purple, but rather brown. I'm not going to go into the question of what kind of brown. You can wear the fragrance to go out if you don't want to meet anybody or if you want to be with other 500 Years wearers ("This is EldOOOOOoooo!"). In your free time you can wear anything anyway, unless someone stops you. Family tester has so far only asked me to wash off one scent and it wasn't this one. We are pretty tough. At work you can wear the scent when you're mucking out a barn. You become one with your surroundings

The other day I read in a blog post how I should write a comment, namely not in the way I do it, but of course in the way the person who explains it to me does it. Instead of telling you what I think of it, I had a family tester M show me again how to dance two specific letters in eurythmy (and that is the appropriate sport). i danced the letters several times. I felt a little better right away. Not good, but at least I felt better. Of course my statements and comments are not objective. I am only an example consumer. We are all different.

Silence breathes history
Outside the midday sun is shining. I park in front of the small medieval church with the modern looking gargoyles. Then the moment when I open the church door. A cool smell of incense and wood streams towards me. The pews emit this scent. Wood in which incense has been steeped for centuries. I become calm. Silence breathes history. I checked beforehand which artwork is how old. I photograph everything to make it accessible to the world, to at least get the outer image of things. Michel Almairac has managed to preserve the scent here and to project images and memories into my mind.

I like many incense scents and especially "ecclesiastical" smelling incense scents, such as LAVS. I find LAVS similar. Maybe not a direct twin, because Armani Privé - Bois d'Encens is much woodier than LAVS, but certainly a brother. I am not a catholic and can't remember ever having been one. Therefore my relationship to churches is not clouded by religion. This scent reminded me especially of the church of Lieurey

Armani Privé - Bois d'Encens can be worn all year round. The fragrance may not be suitable for attending catholic masses. Not to be confused with the priest. This could be embarrassing, especially for women. I have worn LAVS several times at work and there were no spontaneous confessions. Therefore you can wear Armani Privé - Bois d'Encens at work. Of course especially if you are a priest. What do chimney sweeps actually wear? "Coal"? And me, a dialysis nurse, wearing Blood layered with Soap? Question after question

The case of Deva
When I was young and had all the time in the world, I read a few novels by Yukio Mishima. They really shaped the image I have of Japan. I would never write a funny comment about a Yukio Mishima-related fragrance. The "Angel" in The Decay of the Angel is not a Christian angel, but a Deva. Devas belong to the Buddhist cosmology and are beings who have attained a godlike being through good deeds. They can consume good karma. Then they lose their divine status. This is The Decay of the Angel. The fall of a Deva is all the more tragic because he (or she or it) was godlike before. I only understand this now that I've smelled The Decay of the Angel perfume.

The Decay of the Angel smells of the incense that was burned to pay homage to the Devas. It smells like burnt flowers. You have to know that the Devas wear wreaths of flowers. When they fall, their wreaths wither. Their dress gets dirty, they sweat, they get silly and sometimes they start to stink. I can't detect the smell of sweat, I don't find the oud animalistic here either. For me it smells like Maggi with plastic. Apart from that I smell wood (cedar), which has nothing to do with Devas but gives substance to the smell.

Familiar tester M is totally open and not at all preloaded and therefore smells in the top note incense with tiger balm and later goat with fig. He would only give 7.5 points. But after all, he does not find the stuff very bad either.

Since this is not a funny comment, there are also not the usual application examples. I would not buy The Decay of the Angel. Too rare are the occasions when I would wear it. Although it's really pretty great (albeit weird) stuff. Probably the environment would rather tolerate it on a man. The sillage is only strong at the beginning and moderate later. You can wear it all year round, but in summer it is more for strange evenings. If you want to become philosophical, melancholic or crazy.

Thank Caligari for the sample.

Silk from the yellow thalamus (interbrain)
The queen has gone through. Got tired and sent that useless perfumer out to get coffee. She can't make breakfast, of course. Nor can the perfumer. So we'll start with licorice.

Lascivious and lazy, Saba rolls himself in the yellow silk sheets. The perfumer makes notes with a pencil. Performance by a group of oriental dancers swinging their hips and scarves. They throw spices. Saba finds this funny and takes it as an opportunity to lie still for a while. Eager servants bring amber vanilla cakes. So life can go on.

You can still buy Saba. I found an offer on a dutch website. With a text translated into English by Google or something worse. I'll just say, "silk from the yellow thalamus" or "very rich, extremely beautiful woman who burns the gaze of the careless and drugged pretender to the throne." Okay? Maybe he's a hypocrite, too. I don't know. I thought I'd Google it back into Italian and then into German. Maybe that'll clear things up? "Imagine her bow, slow and easy, lying on the royal yellow thalamo silk." Yeah, all right, I will. So I imagine her bow...

Saba is basically an oriental fragrance. I like it and family tester, but it is quite expensive and since I already have something oriental, I would not buy it. Lovers of coffee notes in scents might want to buy it. But you have to keep in mind that coffee doesn't make it to the base.

You can wear Saba all year round if you want to stay in bed for a longer period of time. Or if you go to oriental dance events (you'll have to wait a little bit longer). Saba is equally suitable for mythical queens and for careless candidates for the throne. There are also mattress testers. That would be something for them, too. Sports? If there is a kind of bowing sport. I've been thinking about Goscinny's Cleopatra. And kippers (not the fish) and bending over backwards. But no, that's nonsense, because we are Saba (or something). I'm going to roll around in yellow thalamus for a while.

I wouldn't want that much power
Lignum Vitae (wood of life) is the Latin (botanical) name for guaiac wood and Forte means strong. I do not find the guaiac in Lignum Vitae Forte that strong. But it is definitely in it. Lignum Vitae Forte is definitely woody. It also looks natural. I couldn't make out leather and since I don't like leather, I don't miss any. At the spraying place the scent was just too strong for my olfactory nerves (so here is the Forte). It began to flicker and then I quickly pulled my nose away again. But in the aura it was okay. The aura, however, reached a few meters. In times of Corona ideal, because you are perceived meters away against the wind. Still at the end of the ballroom, where the people now stand at a distance of two meters or if only two people are allowed per ballroom, if they don't live together, then they have to dance at a distance of two meters.

In itself, however, the scent did not seem so special to me, that is to say that it is a wooden oriental and there are felt like sand on the beach (perfume spoils me). There is no oud in here! That is a plus.

Unfortunately, one of the fragrances remains virtually forever on clothing wherever you touch it with a homeopathic amount of Lignum Vitae Forte. Without seeing the pyramid, the base (and the smell of the clothes) smelled fruity and almost like clove oil. I don't know if this is oil of the daffodil or Nagarmotha or both. I had to wash everything today. Not because it smells bad, but because it smells at all. My wrist still smells like Lignum Vitae Forte in the evening because my arm was stuck briefly in the sleeve of the dress I wore yesterday at noon. For other people, the strong sillage and long durability would probably be a reason to rate the perfume higher. The price-performance ratio is increasing but I don't want that much performance.

In my opinion, Lignum Vitae Forte is more suitable for the colder season. The scent is rather but not exclusively male. It is obvious when you can wear Lignum Vitae Forte: when you are in quarantine. In times of plague, cholera, corona. You can dribble it into your plague beak at the front, then you are guaranteed not to smell the bad smells of the world anymore. It's also suitable for pathologists. I've already mentioned the lonely ballroom upstairs. You can use it to mark a trail for others to sniff. So for example at a scavenger hunt (which is not about scavenger). If you want to scent a room with it, you can simply rub the walls or run quickly through the room. Lignum Vitae Forte is certainly useful if you are looking for the exit of a labyrinth or if you got lost in the forest, you must have been there where it smells of Lignum Vitae Forte. Maybe the day before or two days ago, but you have been there at some point
