Belle d'arles EdT, Fragonard

I had the pleasure of being in Paris at a friend's place over the New Year 2019/20.
She raved about the Fragonard perfume museum and that she had participated in a perfumer workshop there, creating her very own fragrance.
Wow. I quickly booked a German-speaking tour and immersed myself in the wonderful world of scents and their mysterious and interesting production.
I was completely taken by the whole ambiance. It is truly worth a visit.
Above all, I fell in love with "Etoile".

Now I occasionally receive fragrance samples. At Fragonard, they are typically provided as scent cloths in small packages, similar to grandma's refreshing wipes from 4711.

Fragonard's #Belle d'arles is for me
initially herbaceous, herbal, piercing. It reminds me of the perfume of older ladies from my childhood.
Gradually, it becomes softer, quieter, warmer, and creamier.
For me, it is neither floral nor citrusy - sweet. Rather spicy-woody with a warming finish.

It lasts long close to the skin. For me, it is still warm and creamy noticeable 12 hours after application.

It wouldn't be my favorite, as it initially really smells herbaceous and scratchy to me. But on the skin, it gradually develops into a warm, cozy blanket.

With a less strict opening..

..the fragrance would likely reach many more people.
To put it bluntly:
The opening gives me a bit of a "tilted" character personally.
It's a shame really, because the fragrance itself is so special with its elegant floral scent that can work for both women and men.

Creamy orange meets bitter orange Jaffa cakes.
Sounds very gourmand, but it isn't, as the floral note resonates, soft - not piercing.

It is not a mainstream fragrance, as it is in no way a people pleaser. On the contrary: many find it too floral, too piercing, etc.

However, if you like it, you have something very special.

With "Cedre," it's definitely my top 2 fragrances from Fragonard.

Creamy elegance and extravagance!

I think you are a wonderful nose in your genre.

You create fragrances that are wonderfully unforgettable and extraordinary; these are a few scents for me, and you have designed many fragrances that do not appeal to me at all.

With this fragrance Belle d´Arles for Fragonard, you have once again completely surprised me, and I find your composition and the development of the scent very femininely extravagant and elegant.

You are indeed a fine perfumer who can bring it exactly to the point of perfection....

So I was very curious about how this fragrance from Fragonard would turn out.

I have been to Grasse at Fragonard, a very modern perfume company that works with good marketing; there is a suitable scent for everyone, with refillable bottles, and many nice little design details, all somehow French, modern, casual, light, and colorful ----- and affordable.

From Fragonard itself, I only like a few fragrances, but they are very good, and I always repurchase them.

And those are not the classics that I like.

This wonderful composition starts immediately with a very creamy soft orange blossom, mixed with fine citrus notes; with the first sniff, I think of super delicious fresh-smelling laundry straight out of the washing machine.
That doesn't last long, as it quickly becomes orange-creamy half-sweet (syrupy?) without becoming stale; no, it remains creamy with a slight bitter, not disturbing note that makes this creamy scent extravagant and very elegant.

The aura is enormous, the longevity for a fragrance from Fragonard is unbelievably good and so extravagant that I think it will become a special fragrance for a special woman, not mainstream, miles away from it.

With neroli, I always fear that it will become stale or fleeting, but that is not the case here; the scent remains linear super soft, which is probably also due to the amber that I don't perceive here at all.

The scent is clean and emphasizes femininity, so it is not a fragrance for a man....

I hope Fragonard will also make a shower gel and a body lotion to go with it; they can do that very well because this scent is so beautiful.
